  3. Fortunately I have other vehicles to drive, so not in a hurry besides just wanting to drive it. Looks like cylinder 2 is the culprit. FSM says you can do head gaskets without pulling motor. That sounds like a horrible idea. I am leaning towards just a set of firelock head gaskets and arp head bolts for now. Ill have the heads gone through while out and probably go ahead and do a clutch as well. Oil analysis was fine. Nothing major showing. Almost the same as when I got the car. A tiny bit of boron and potassium indicating coolant. Once I get through this 21 day on work schedule I'll probably get started. At least that's the plan for now.
  4. I do have combustion gasses in my coolant. Haven't compression/leak down yet. 50k miles on engine, 185k on chassis. From what I understand oem shortblock replacement happened but with questionable work. Before I got the car the engine was pulled by subaru dealer after burning a valve on cylinder 4. That happened with about 20k on the motor. Valve cover started leaking right after head work and was fixed under warranty by subaru. So more questionable work. I guess some part of me is wanting to just go crazy and get an iag stage 2 or closed deck short block and an fp green. Of course then I would need a 6 speed. The 6 speed was next in the plans anyways.
  5. Blew a head gasket last week. Dash is back burner now. Coming on a 24 day continuous work schedule today too. Yay!
  6. Appears to be leaking directly above the crossmember on left head. Had some bubbles in the coolant as well. I am off this weekend, so I'll check the coolant for exhaust gasses as well as the aforementioned compression/leak down. I had what sounded like rod knock when I started it to pull it forward Thursday, but it did not repeat when started again 30 min later after jacking it up. Maybe coolant leaking into cylinder over 2 days of sitting. Oil analysis results will be a week out from yesterday. I just realized I forgot to borrow the nice borescope from work when I left. Dang it. I have been putting off getting a better one for myself. Perhaps this is impetus i needed.
  7. Head gasket I believe. Ill do a compression and leak down test this weekend.
  8. Yes driver side. Heater core hoses/area are fine. Had not thought of throttle body. I will check that tomorrow after work.
  9. Definitely a lot. Easily 6-10 drips/sec. No leaks prior. Nothing above/around is wet. Dry around areas you mentioned. Perplexed. Cracked block? Extra perplexed
  10. Anybody got any ideas? Coolant running around from lip of oil pan. Nothing looks wet or suspect. Probably 10 drips/sec at operating temperatures. No coolant in engine oil. I appreciate you guys 20210103_171512
  11. Didn't get as much done as I would have liked this weekend. Went hiking with the kid and dog Saturday. A front moved through Sunday and brought rain, so that slowed things down. I should have read the directions on the sticky dash fix kit earlier as I would have realized I needed a small foam roller that was not included in the kit, so that didn't get done. Besides checking fluids and air, I only installed the Whiteline KSB630. 20201220_153429
  12. Good idea. I wondered for a brief moment if it was either a makeshift slide hammer or you were grabbing a set while working.
  13. Haven't done a thing lately, just work work work. Going to try to get some stuff done this weekend. Sticky dash fix, Whiteline front strut tower brace, beatrush rear strut tower brace, trans fluid cocktail, and maybe roll the fenders in preparation for mounting the new wheels that have been sitting in my garage for weeks. We will see.
  14. Definitely interested to see how this winds up. Nice job
  15. Thanksgiving was bit busier than I expected with family and what not, so I didn't get the time to give the Stickydashfix a shot. Unfortunately, my next day off is 12/19 so it's going to be a little while. I will still report back my findings when I get to it.
  16. Tune is finished. Runs really well. Highly recommend Stephen Clark at iaTUNING. Most revisions back within 1 day. Super thorough. He was even nice enough to extend the time till my car was fixed after the wreck. I've just been driving and enjoying it. I'll get back to the little bits next week.
  17. Definitely like these more than the halogens. Sometime down the road I may pull them back apart and flatten them out. Overall I am happy. I especially like the level adjustment. I didn't really think about the difference that would make when loaded down. You just kind of deal with it you know?
