  1. ...so I've been meaning to update this one for a while. I've actually had my GT back on the road for about 2.5-months now, I also went ahead and updated my build list. The key take aways are a new IAG Stage II short block and an upgraded turbo, fueling, and cams. The car drives better than it ever did and after re-tuning puts down 301hp and 336lb-ft, it really makes for a more entertaining daily driver. Other than the car imo looking terrible from some hail damage, DIP hides it well, the car is done until my oldest son gets to take over the reins in a few years.

  3. Update: So I still have these parts in my garage and I have a new car coming in and I need these parts gone. I've slashed the prices by a quite bit, buyer pays shipping:

     

    • OEM Legacy headlights (swapped for the special appearance lights in 2014) - $100 (sold)
    • Stock suspension (springs and shocks) - $50 (pending)
    • LGT carpeted mats (new and never used, my car came w/the all season mats installed) - $40 (sold)
    • Intercooler (w/charge pipe and inlet hoses) - $50
    • OEM Shifter - $25
    • OEM Rear sway bar and end links (in the Whiteline box) - $25
    • OEM Steering wheel - $25
    • Brake calipers (front and rear w/stock lines and pads)- $100 (sold)
    • Grimmspeed license plate mount - $25

    ...so a little over a month ago my Legacy GT suffered a rod bearing failure. To say that sucked would be an understatement, initially thought that I would be selling the car. However, after exploring my options (and underwhelming offers) I've decided to hold on to it and move forward w/a rebuild. I won't be going crazy so the plan is to overbuild it, keep power about the same then hand it over to my oldest son.

     

    ...on deck for the rebuild are the usual EJ stuff, some small quality of life mods, and maybe some external updates.

     

    • IAG Stage 2 short block
    • OEM oil pump, cooler and etc
    • STI exhaust cams
    • IAG Air Oil Separator
    • Whiteline 24mm FSB
    • Whiteline Front Roll Center/Bump Steer
    • Perrin Steering Damper
    • Ported, polished, and cerakoted VF54 (I needed new seals anyway)
    • STI Sideskirts
    • 2013 Front end refresh (possibly)

    You did have your ac off?

    Grab a can of break cleaner and spray all possible lines/connections and see if idles jumps.

    Verify tmic to throttle body coupler is sealed and not ripped if it’s stock.

    ...so yeah, my ac was on when I got the vacuum number. After an errand I checked and it was -12. I'll have to pick up some brake cleaner to check the old school way.

  6. ...wow, I haven't posted here in a minute but I know 5th gen zeitgeist here won't let me down...I hope :lol:

     

    ...anyways, on my way in to work today I noticed that how much I tried, I couldn't hit my target boost (18+ psi). Boost just stopped building right around 15psi. So after work I went ahead did some logging, sure enough I could still barely hit 16psi while I was gathering the data. I took a look at the log and TD Boost Error seems to average around 3psi or so and my DAM is 1 for the entire run. I'm wondering if I can chalk this boost loss up to the heat and humidity or if there is something else going on here? I took a look around my engine bay and nothing seems to stand out (charge pipe and TMIC look good) but I can swear my car is a bit louder induction noise-wise under boost than it has been before. I still need to take a look under my car to get eyes on the diverter valve and turbo inlet though...any thoughts?

  7. ...so I just got my car back after getting some serious hail damage repaired. My car looks good, but now I'm having some shifter strangeness. It's now pretty tricky to get into 5th and 6t. Also I messed around w/it b/c it seemed too easy to or there was too much play over on the right side w/the higher gears and reverse. I can shift into reverse w/o the lockout (in a parking lot)...like it isn't working or it was forced into reverse w/o the lockout at some point. I took the shifter surround off to see if anything was broken, but everything appears to be in order. Also with cover off everything appears to operate normally. Anyone have any thoughts about what is going on here?
