  1. have you looked at your injectors? something happening to them as the engine warms up?
  2. You'll have a jolly good time with thread my friend: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265631
  3. Probably said it in tongue-in-cheek and just wants a twin-turbo to single turbo conversion. Haven't had a problem with my TT but then again I dont mod my car and don't really plan on doing so..
  4. Without knowing the history of the car you won in auction, it might be prudent to just wait for it, take the wheels off, take the brake pads and rotors off then show that to your local parts store and get replacements that way. With all the interchangeability in Subarus of this era you might be running a different set compared to the factory set, as modified by the previous owner.
  5. Good day gentlemen. Living up here in the Great White North the salt on the roads has done a number on my poor 2001 B4 TT and claimed its bounty of rusted exhaust pipe bits. After my latest oil change it was brought to my attention that I need a new muffler and y-pipe asap. I was able to source a used y-pipe but the labor to replace it does not look like it's going to be cheap with all the things that need to come off to replace it. Then what are my options for a catback exhaust/muffler? In total how much should I expect to spend to fix these two up? I'm located in Winnipeg, MB if that matters.
  6. I got a FSM copy for AUDM 98-03 Liberty's. Basically the same as JDM but de-tuned because of Australia's lower quality gas. Let me know if you need it. This thing is 4400 pages long lol.
  7. Thank you for the information! You're right in that all cases presented here are manual trans cars. Another symptom is binding, which is not happening to me yet. So my center diff should still be fine. However if there's one thing I notice in my trans lately is that it's become laggy. Are you supposed to change transmission fluid? It's not like engine oil that needs periodic changing right?
  8. Browsing over the internet today and saw some threads from other sites saying 3rd Gen Legacys have center diff issues as mileage accrues. However I'm having trouble finding out more information about this center diff issue. What happens, and what symptoms do I have to look out for?
  9. Looked at your picture again, it looks like your gauge cluster is still working. Either a loose wire to your gauge lights, or a fuse. I'm not sure how the gauge cluster is wired up but if everything else in your car is fine.. As for my issue, I replaced my alternator. Never knew alternators can also burn out: If you notice the top connector's melted, it's what i've been smelling burning from the cabin the past 2 months
  10. Holy sh** same thing might be happening with my car. Everything was fine last week, it even started fine on the couple of really cold days we recently had up here in Winnipeg. Then yesterday morning as I was driving, gauge cluster lights suddenly turned off while driving. It came back on after about 20 seconds and car seemed fine. As I tried to left in the afternoon, car started fine but noticed that my handbrake light wont turn off after disengaging the handbrake. Weird I thought but everything else seemed to work as I tried to drive. But a few blocks down the road, the battery light came on. Then a few more blocks the check engine light came on. Car was feeling a bit slow at this time. Then a few more blocks gauge cluster went completely dead. Radio stopped working, A/C stopped working and wont turn on. I pulled over but the engine seemed to keep going fine. Popped the hood and checked for weird smells but nothing. Called to drive it back home and somehow made it but I can definitely feel the car was very slow to respond to the accel pedal. Today I checked my fuses, both under the hood and under the driver seat and they all looked intact. Checked my battery and it was under 12v. Tried to start the car but all it can manage is a measly few cranks and car wont start. Will call my local garage tomorrow morning as they are closed to see if they can take a look at the battery. Right now the battery is my primary suspect but if there's anyone out there that is more experienced please chime in.
  11. Should I be worried about adapters? Which wiper brand would you recommend?
  12. Good morning gents, Basic quick question: I can buy any windshield wiper from a local autoparts store as long as they're the same length, yes? Recently noticed that the windshield wipers on my JDM 2001 B4 have worn out and needs replacement. I checked the parts catalogue and they're 500mm (left) and 550mm (right) length wipers, which is equivalent to 20" and 22" wipers respectively. They're easily swappable right?
  13. Hello all, just an update to this thread. Friends and I tried to tackle changing the y-downpipe, but trying to take off the intercooler was such a PITA we gave up and failed.. In any case the reason I wanted to fix the downpipe was to fix a gas smell (again! I've had this fixed before but it keeps coming back) from a cold start. Well we found this time that there is another leak in the gas lines in the engine bay, you could actually see it pooling on top of the engine block underneath the intake manifold. I feel this is way out of league for backyard mechanics and rather have it dealt with by a shop. But man this is probably going to cost another $500-$1000 just for the labor of pulling everything off. Ah, the ups and downs of owning JDM..
  14. I've bought from partsouq.com before; I was looking for more immediately available suppliers but if it's only from this site then I guess I have no choice lol Thank you for the input!
  15. Good day folks, setting up to replace the downpipes on my '01 B4 with the twin turbo due to my current one having a hole on the y-pipe. Found a used but solid one locally (album here) So I'm looking to replace the gaskets between the downpipe and the turbos, and you can see their shape here: My question is, is there anything on the usdm side that can interchange? I tried searching rockauto with the Subaru part number but it seems like it's not matching. Google search only needs to suppliers from Japan, Russia or UAE which will take time to come in, on top of shipping costs. Anyone here with experience replacing downpipes on the TTs?
