  1. Hello all,

I've had this issue with this car since I've owned it.

the car will randomly come up on the screen and warn me that my engine has low oil in the engine.

Each time this has happened, I was able to catch it quickly and add more oil to the car before anything major happens.

Wherever I end up stopping to buy more oil, I always lie down and feel under the engine. My hand comes back dirty, sure but not oily.

The car will typically take a 1-2 quarts before the dipstick reads high, and then I can be on my way.

I don't understand what is happening here.

There is not oil in the coolant reservoir and there is no blue smoke coming from the exhaust.

It seems more like the oil just vanishes without a trace.

I thought I had it figured out, but now I don't know.

I used to change the oil after 4000 miles since what I bought said it was good for 7500. Somewhere between 3K and 4K is usually when it happens. This last time however, it happened again at around 1.5K.

I typically change my own oil, but I have taken it to Subaru 3 times to have the oil done and it still happens.

I'm at a loss at this point. I now keep jugs of oil in my car which worries me in the hot SC heat.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  2. Hi all,

Today I started the car for the first time.

After starting the car and having all the lights go off like normal, I noticed that the airbag light remained on.

After that a message appeared on screen that said "SRS Airbag." "check owners manual"

I didn't know what to do, so I shut the engine off. I waited about 10 seconds and started it back up.

After the second startup, everything was normal.

This has happened multiple times today.

At one point that occurred 3 times in a row without turning off.

I drove a bit with the light on, and everything seemed normal.

Anybody have anything like this happen or maybe know what this could be?

  3. I know there are several rain guards for our cars that I could buy on Amazon.

Does anyone have experience with any of these from Amazon?

Things that I am concerned about are

-uv resistance (I don't want them to crack after a year or two).

-ability to stay on even at highway speeds for extended times

    -ability to not leak

-that they conform with the design of the car

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

  4. Joints circled in yellow,I heated it up with soldering iron while I was pressing down on the LED,that is where the broken connection is at on mine.

But if it doesn’t hold up I will be replacing it with these, maybe in different colors.

Let us know how that holds up. I did the same thing to mine but it only lasted a few days.

In my last car I changed all the inside LEDs from orange to blue. I used LEDs from that site. They are very good.

Changing all the LEDs brought some new feel to the interior.

I've actually been thinking about doing it to this car with white LEDs. It was such a hassle last time though so I consider this a low priority for me.

  5. Egos, ignorance and politics got the better of this thread.

t00ning Hitachi-based Subarus (for better or worse) is well alive, just search for what you need beyond this forum

    - easy to locate and contact who you need, plenty of ppl and firms out there happy to help you part with your time and money.

On the other hand - in this day and age, it might be best to just leave these econoboxes alone

and keep them as stock as possible. Should help with trade ups to Ascents and upcoming 7th gen.

Ok I know what you might say to this but I want to ask anyway.

I have read a portion of this post. I have flashed my ecu on my last car. So I have some experience in this.

However for this specific vehicle (2015 legacy 2.5) I don't know where to start. You say to search outside of this forum. But just really don't know where to start.

    Any advice to get started?

Places to go? People to talk to?

  6. What phone?

What model year? (2015-17 style or 2018-19 CarPlay/AndroidAuto)

I've been using Pandora with the Starlink head unit and iOS (iPad mini 4 in the Legacy, iPhone 7 in the WRX) for 3+ years now. It's occasionally glitchy, but works 99% of the time.

Restart your phone daily! I turn mine off every night and then plug it in to charge so it powers back on. Same effect as restarting your PC.

Open Pandora before connecting to the car. If this doesn't work, connect first and then open Pandora on your phone. Or connect then use the head unit's Pandora button to launch. If it doesn't work just change to another sequence.

I just upgraded from Pandora Plus to Premium, which lets you download stations and custom playlists. Both show up in the station selection list on the head unit, pretty cool. Lost the unlimited data I had on my iPad so offline mode is a must now.

    I'm using a LG G6 with android 8.0. my car is a 2015.

I didn't used to have to restart my phone daily. It used to just work.

Now restarting my phone does not make it work anyway.

From what I've gathered here it's a problem with android 8.0 and Pandora itself.

Damn shame. That was one of my favorite features about that radio.

  7. They've been screwing with it so much recently. I canceled my Plus subscription recently because I was sick of it cutting out in the middle of a song, desyncing, and just randomly not working.

One thing I found that served as a workaround was selecting Bluetooth Audio as the source over the Pandora app itself. Not only does using the Bluetooth as a source work (oft times *better* than the app), it also enables you to rewind using the left arrow on your steering wheel.

Other than that, a lot hardware issues come down to the fact that Subaru evidently only tests Apple and Samsung devices with their cars' infotainment.

My issue there is that I don't want to look at my phone while driving. The radio interface was so much more convenient.

But overall you think it's pandoras problem?

If that's the case they may not ever patch it

  8. I've been using the Pandora app on the non nav radio for the longest time. Suddenly over the past week the app isn't working.

I tried deleting Pandora off of my phone and reinstalling it

I tried to factory reset my radio (couldn't figure that out. So I just deleted personal data)

    Neither of those worked.

The message that comes up is "please make sure you have the Pandora app installed properly"

But I do have the app installing and running.

Is there something wrong with the radio?

Should I try updating it again with the same update file that I have from earlier this year?

Should I try something like unplugging power from the radio to reset it?

I use this feature pretty much every time I drive and not having it is really frustrating.

    Any ideas?
