  1. I recently found a big 'ole crack in my windshield from a rock that was kicked up by a car in front of me on the highway, easily larger than the 6 inches that repair services say can be patched, so it will definitely need to be replaced. Unfortunately, it was dark when I pulled over to check the glass and didn't spot the crack until a week later as I was working from home. Some preliminary inquires quoted me as much as $1100 for a replacement and I'm sure you could imagine my surprise at the cost. I'm really curious what any of you have shelled out for replacement windshields over the years.
  2. I'm pretty sure you're right about the wheel size. However, I do not believe they are referring to wheel size. The FSM is titled 2017 Outback/Legacy Service manual. I am a bit doubtful they would include information from a prior generation in this manual. In addition, I found a couple blow-up diagrams of both 16 inch and 17 inch types of brakes. There is a small difference in their parts and a difference in their torque specs for the caliper bolts, caliper bracket bolts. Check part number 18 and 15 in the 16 inch diagram. They do not exist in the 17 inch diagram. I'm curious to know what you think. Images are linked below. https://imgur.com/a/e94yrDy
  3. I just going through the procedure for doing my front brakes on MY2017 Limited 2.4i H4. I came across a spec in the factory service manual that I'm a bit confused by. There's a 16 inch type and a 17 inch type brake pad listed in the FSM. Linked here: https://imgur.com/a/ckyUMbM I'm not sure how to tell which would apply to my car. Does the size refer to the rotor size?
  4. This is a pedantic question, but does it matter for an AWD car as long as it it done at set intervals?
  5. Yes, I checked both fuses by pulling them out with the tool that is provided in the engine compartment. The fuses were labelled 12V Socket and CIGAR. I verified the fuse location via https://fuse-box.info/subaru/subaru-legacy-2015-2018-fuses#2017 and checked the diagram on the pull-out cover under the steering wheel area.
  6. Hey guys. I've recently run into an issue that has me puzzled. The 12V outlet/cigarette lighter thing in the small cubby under the center console has stopped working. I've checked the fuse under the steering wheel and it's still perfectly fine. I even checked that my 12V charging dongle works in the armrest outlet to make sure the device isn't the thing that is not functioning. Anyone know if there is a way to pull the thing out and check if the wiring isn't the issue or any other ideas?
  7. Do you have the engine "skid" shield at the bottom of the car? Shine a flashlight in and check if you see oil collecting on the shield. It might be stopping the oil from dripping down onto the pavement.
  8. 2017 Limited 2.5 Bought in July 2017. Just hit 35k miles.
  9. I've had my car take about 10-15 minutes before the temperature gauge hits operating temperature. I get heat within 5-10 minutes. 90 seconds is very fast.
  10. So, I recently went in to get my car's maintenance done and the car's maintenance schedule states to perform the tire rotation every 6,000 miles. Great, no problem there. However, the dealership said that the Gold Maintenance, which is supposed to cover all of the maintenance up to 42,000 miles only covers tire rotations every other visit (aka every 12,000 miles). Are they just trying to get me to pay for it up front to make money or is this a part of the Gold Plus plan? From what the finance advisor stated, he made it sound like the plan included all maintenance up to a certain mileage. They said a similar thing for my 24,000 mile service which requires a cabin air filter change and wanted to charge me $60 to get it changed, but this is also on the maintenance schedule.
  11. So I've noticed that my Navigation system on 2017MY 2.5Limited sometimes lags like crazy. Sometimes I could touch a button and it responds around 1-2 minutes later. Just a few days ago, I tried using my navigation and a error dialog box popped up stating that the system has run out of memory and to remove some parameters. Has anyone experienced that before and what can I do to avoid that?
  12. Can confirm the reduced acceleration on cold start ups and the strange noises. I definitely don't recommend putting yourself in a position where fast acceleration is required while the engine warms up.
  13. Also keep an eye on your engine coolant temperature gauge.
  14. Colder weather is denser and induces more drag which will also reduce mpg. If the difference is just 1 mpg, then I wouldn't worry about it. It seems like it is within normal parameters. I've seen my mpgs fluctuate between 29-31 in the winter depending on how heavy I am with the gas to around 32-33 in the summer. Again my driving style is inconsistent and traffic heavy so it is variable, but it is normal.
  15. It's possible that's just the difference between driving in cold temperatures to warmer temperatures, depending on where you live especially since spring is starting up.
  16. I've also sat in the car after turning the engine off and headlights on. They usually turn off within 3 minutes. I'll test it today and let you know what happens and what I did.
  17. They should turn off after a few minutes. How long does it stay on?
