  1. Update. Started to hear my exhaust coming from under the driver side door. Took it to an exhaust shop nearby. $50 later she’s as good as new. Small crack in the pipe after the header.
  2. Hey there. Was cruising the other day and heard what sounded like a CD skipping while I was on the accelerator, maybe 1/4 - 1/2. I was in manual mode (cvt on my 2.5 n/a) in 6 when it happened. Tried to duplicate, later off the highway, and sure enough with about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle around 2k-2.5k rpm this odd CD skipping sound happens. No CD’s are in the car. Radio was off. Has anyone had / heard of this? Of course I just cracked 150k miles. Really hope I can keep her going and this is nothing serious. Edit: link to video I took yesterday.
  3. I didn't scan the codes. I just brought the car to the dealer since I had an oil change and tire rotation coming up anyways. They, to no surprise, quoted me $2100 for a new exhaust system. I have made friends with one of the sales guys there so he told me to check out the exhaust shop, which is where he got his custom exhaust done for his WRX. He said they might be able to weld the crack and fix the problem. Exhaust shop got the car up on the lift and confirmed that the header was cracked at the upstream 02 sensor and also found another crack at the flex piping coming over from the drivers side. He put a piece of plastic tubing up to the manifold with the car running on the lift and let me listen. You could hear exhaust seeping out with every pulse. He said that they could weld the piece, but recommended that I just buy the part on rock auto for them to install. that way if the cat was fried, I wasn't spending money on pointless welding. Truly great guys and I would highly recommend taking a car to them for any emissions / exhaust work if anyone is in the DC / Baltimore Area. 4. Thanks all for your help so far. My guess is that I have +110K the spark plugs were done around the 60K mark since I have not had any trouble. In any case, I'm close enough so I might as well get them done at my next oil change along with the PCV. I also found this: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/maintenance2.html confirming dgoodhue statement that the interval is 60K. There are some other good little tid-bits of information in there as well.
  5. Will probably do plugs and the PCV at my next oil change then. Thanks,
  6. Hey all, looking for some helpful hints on some of the following items. *Note* I have spent some time searching through the forum, but have not dug too deep. Anyways. I purchased my 2011 legacy back in 2017 with 79K on the clock. apart from doing the timing belt and water pump at 95K, buying some new shoes at 98K, and swapping out a cracked exhaust manifold last month I really have not had any issues with the car and now have just over 110K on the clock. However, I'm worried / questions if some things should be done since I dont have a whole lot of info about the history of the car for the first 79K miles. For preventative maintenance I am wondering about the following: 1) PCV Valve. Does anyone have input on where this is located and if this should be replaced at a certain interval? My GF's lexus dealer replaced hers as preventative maintenance at 100K, but im not seeing anything in the manual / online suggesting an interval. Should this be replaced? and if so any step by step guides on how to DIY would be greatly appreciated. Also is there only one of these? can anyone help me locate? 2) EGR Valve. Same as the PCV, does this need to be replaced at a certain interval? DIY steps appreciated as well. 3) Spark Plugs and Coils. Same as 1 & 2. Im not feeling any rough idle, and will probably get this done by my mechanic, Im just wondering if there is a recommended brand and a recommended replacement interval. Now for Mods I have found some helpful information on suspension mods and am playing with the idea of getting a front and rear sway bar but wondering if it is truly worth it. My commute doesn't involve a lot of tight corners, but some long sweepers. Also, would new end links and other bolstering be recommended? I saw something about AVO rear stabilizer brace? Looking for an end result of a bit of a firmer ride and less body roll, but also want to maintain / increase longevity. Any front sway and rear sway bars (plus other recommended items) would be greatly appreciated. Lights. I did have Subaru replace the headlights under warranty when they went out and I replaced one of the little DRLs in the headlight assembly with a sylvania bulb. I also replaced the brake lights with some LEDs, only (as expected) to get some codes thrown. I'm wanting to go full LED but having a hard time finding something that wont cause the hyper flash, or throw codes but not having much luck. Does anyone have a stock to full LED bulb replacement for the head and tail lights? My understanding is that LED's dont provide much in the way of resistance, hence the codes, so is there a plug and play LED kit I can install? or some DIY instructions on how to go full LED? Sound Deadening. Now the leggys aren't too loud at highway speed, but I do enough highway driving a year to want some additional sound reduction. I have found a few vids on youtube, but wondering if anyone on here has had any luck with a certain manufacturer/ posted their install. With just about 31,000 of my own miles I have really grown to like this car. A bit under-powered at times, but a smooth AWD road machine that I cant wait to put (hopefully) another 100K on and share pics of the upgrades as i go. Thanks in advance for all your help!
  7. Hey there, I just had this issue happen to me, however the CEL, Brake, cruise control and traction control lights would flash if I would idle for > 3 mins. After a few restarts the light would go away, but come back If i would idle again, but never after driving. Turns out it was a crack in the exhaust header, near the upstream 02 sensor. Bought the part, and went to a custom exhaust shop to put it on. I replace the o2 sensors as well since i bought the car at 79K and now have 110K. now its running fine with no lights.
  8. Can anyone confirm if the AEM Performance Air Filter 28-20304 will fit in a 2011 leg n/a?
