  1. I made sure to separate the ashtray assembly from the shift console. You probably dont need to.. But it's cleaner for me. I also removed the shift boot as well, since I was getting a new boot anyway. Then hit everything with soap and water, and a scotchbrite pad to rough the surfaces up a bit. Covered the chrome trim on the ashtray with some clear packing tape, then cut around it with an xacto. There's a tiny bit of bleed on it, but super hard to tell. I used Valspar flat black, and flat topcoat rattle cans from Lowe's. 3 coats of black, then 3 coats of clear. It sat around for a few days after, as well. I also made sure to wait a few hours between paint, and clear coat application.
  2. I picked it up at a local Car Toys. they have a few different flavors. I did have to dremel out some material from the console, but no biggie. It's a bonus that the kenwood HU fast charges my galaxy s7 as well!
