  1. took a couple pictures during my lunch break today. I'm loving the lowered look, although the offset of my wheels is starting to bother me. I might start looking into wheel spacers down the road, although there are a couple of other mods that are higher on the list:p
  2. Rhitter, how to you like the Smash? is it hard to pedal? I'm starting to consider replacing my Mach 5.5 with one. GG seems like an awesome company and they are just a few miles from my house. On the topic of mountain bikes, here are some new pics of the outback with my new bike racks, and mountain bike. i think i have too many red things......
  3. Thank you! Tbh i only did it to avoid any issues with clearance. This is my first time lowering a car, and I decided to go the easiest route possible to avoid any headaches. At first I didn't like the low profile tires, but they are starting to grow on me, so I might keep it that size for awhile. If so, I will probably keep the speedo as is. It will make me speed less if anything lol I do like the idea of lowering the offset though to make the wheels more flush, but I will probably work on some other mods first. The idea of rolling fenders slightly terrifies me lol
  4. No OB build thread yet. I just got it lowered today! Suspension setup is: Legacy KYB on Tein H-Tech springs Legacy top hats, and 3/4 saggy butt spacers Potenza 225/40/18 on 18x8 with 48 offset I'm super happy how it turned out.
  5. Thanks to everyone on this thread that lowered their outbacks, and shared what they did. It made the process a lot easier for me. Just got the car back today and I must say, I'm pretty pleased with the results! setup was: KYB on Tein H-Tech springs Legacy top hats, and 3/4 saggy butt spacers Potenza 225/40/18 on 18x8 with 48 offset No rubbing whatsoever. I think there is a little room for improvement, but so far its a solid starting point. so glad I did this mod!:icon_bigg
  6. ahh that makes sense. well we will see what happens once my subi is lowered. grabbed a good deal on some KYB struts and tein h tech springs, which should get me about .9 inches below legacy height, but with OB spacers still installed. the final parts arrive monday, so hopefully i can get them installed this week!
  7. well after double checking the tire i had ordered, i decided i wanted something more sporty. i was able to switch it to a bridgestone potenza all season in 225/40/18. to avoid any clearance issues. im not too bothered by width, and this car is going to see snow a decent amount in the rockies. i'm excited to see how it looks! just need to pull the trigger on suspension parts. im looking at xtea's b8's on swifts, oem jdm billsteins form overseas, or just go full racerboy and get bc coilovers.
  8. Rhitter can you elaborate how the the camber arms will fix this? i have been looking at going an inch below legacy height on 235/45/18, but i do occasionally tow a motorcycle trailer, or put a bunch of camping gear in the back. love the low look, but i don't want to ruin the main benefit of having a wagon in the first place.
  9. amazing build! i wish i could find that n1 exhaust somewhere. it looks amazing on the outback. did you just use extended hangers to get it to fit?
  10. 05 OBXT 5EAT Limited in Red Garnet. had a legacy wagon 2.5i prior, but wanted a more sporty feel. I've had the OBXT for close to a year now, and finally getting around to lowering it, so i have a true sport wagon!
  11. how difficult is installing the JDM climate control? starting to get tired of my FM transmitter.
  12. i found this quote from housemusic1: "I'm lowered on Konis with H&R's: 18x8.5 +48 Rota G Force, 235/45/18. No issues with that setup, and could actually run a 245/45. I added 20mm wheel spacers, and had to flatten the metal lip under the rear flares, otherwise my rear tires would get destroyed. Since your new setup isn't "stock", Tire Rack's system is probably spitting out a generic warning. You will be good to go!"
  13. So I've gone through the v1 and v2 thread it seems like a dozen times, and i decided to pull the trigger on some new tires and rims, with lowering to soon follow. i want to make sure this setup wont cause me problems. tires are 235/45/18 on 18x8 with 48mm offset rims. obxt will be lowered to 1 below legacy height(leg struts and leg lowering springs to get it to 1 below leg height). so far my grocery list is struts, springs, (possibly saggy butt spacers?) and legacy bumpstops. do i need anything else to help with camber issues, like an adjustable lower control arm on the rear? is this setup going to rub at all using legacy struts? should i expect to roll fenders? is this a better setup for bc racing coilovers? thanks for the help. so much information and different setups on these threads that i think i have given myself information overload:spin:
  14. Hey peeps. believe it or not, i have read both V1 and V2 over the last couple days. so much awesome info here, but a lot of info to comb through! i think i have a good idea of what needs to be done, just need some confirmation. I've got a 05 red 5AT OBXT. here is the list: BC racing coilovers(OB most likely) megan racing rear rear and rear front links (to help with camber) LGT bumbstops(or do i need them on coilovers?) 245/45/28 on 18x8 with 45mm offset(will it rub? is there a better option? not trying to roll if possible) plan is to lower it a inch or so lower than LGT height. my ultimate plan is a solid handling DD sportwagon more than anything else, so is there something else i should consider? new swaybars and endlinks? is removing the body spacers necessary? do i need new links for the front as well or just the back? thanks again for all the info here. im pretty sure im on the right track, but this is my first time lowering a car, and i want to make sure i do it right!:)
