From my experience with EJ motors there really isn’t anything above the oil filter that could leak. So make sure the filter is tight and hopefully that should fix it!

You should be able to identify if it is a Rev-D by the VIN plate BH5(A) B C or D

This is the legacy photos page. What is the model and year of the car in question? Let me know and I will try to get you an answer.

I would check any codes (it present) from there my first thought would be fuel pump. It cranks just fine, so timing should be okay. (Wouldn’t hurt to double check though) from there you can narrow it down. As you probably know, motors need air fuel and spark to run, while there can be other things, it is probably a lack of fuel causing your issue. I had the same thing happen to one or my vehicles. Cheers!

It is waaaaaaaaaaaay overdue on that timing belt job. That's a every 105,000 miles OR 105 months, whichever comes first from Subaru.
This is an interference engine. Err on the side of caution unless you really wanna deal with valves and pistons having a mosh pit.
Replace the belt and all components. The belt is not usually the failure point, it's often an idler that seizes and snaps the belt. Recommend Aisin kit for this job.
Good catch, totally forgot about the belts on EJ motors!
Yup, that’s a motor.

Hey Reloadit!
If the car is running good you should be in the clear, headgaskets were the killers on these cars and I don't think you will run into that if you run into that if you just drive her easy. To save yourself the hastle of repacking grease and redoing CV boots, I would recommend replacing the whole axle. I ran into that exact issue on my previous 05 OB 3.0R. Grease from the inner CVs was leaking onto the cats causing a burning. I replaced both of the axles as a whole. It seems pricy at first but usually NAPA can give you a decent price. Just make sure you bring back your cores! However if you are pressed for paper, you can totally just do the boots, but I would do both sides to make life easier down the road.
For tires, heres kinda my top picks.
1. General Grabber AT2
I had these on my 2005 Outback and they killed it in the snow and were pretty easy going. They were also silent and rode great on the road.
2. Yokohama Avid series
Not very off-roady but still great in the snow, dirt and anything you throw at them.
3. Bridgestone Blizzak
Yes, it's a winter tire but they do great on dirt from what people have told me, pretty affordable too. Also can't go wrong with a bridgestone dualer.
(coming from a tire tech)
As for the tire pressure, I would run maybe 33-34 during the colder months but during the summer anywhere from 31-32 is gonna be your best bet!
Cheers!

So suspension stuff has slowly been rolling in, here is a general outline of my suspension build.
-KYB front and rear struts from the 2004 Legacy L *wagon*
-KYB Suspension mounts for the rear, Cheaper brand OEM mounts for the front.
-H&R Lowering Springs.
-Whiteline Rear Camber Bushings.
Which brings us to brakes.
-Powerstop rotors on all 4 corners.
-EBC Pads

Get-Jpn is always a good one, not a whole lot of Subaru stuff on there tho [emoji106]
Yup, that’s a motor.

Gotcha, where did you nab the front end from then?

Holy cow has it been a while!
Completely rebuilt my H6 and tore it down completely. She’s been a champ and holding up good. Used a thrush 2 chamber to make an exhaust up with and sounds great!

I welded a thrush two chamber onto my H6 stock exhaust and it sounds beautiful!

Alright so here’s some pictures from a while back of me pulling the EZ30 out of this bad boy.

Hey guys I have 3.0 L.L Beaner Wago. Picked up down in NOCO for about 2K. Thought I got a total score on it, but turns out she had some bad leaks. Got the engine pulled out and rebuilding it. This is basically my build thread.
-
There was no failure, I already had my timing apart. I solved this issue, according to a local subaru tech you can reassemble the tensioner by slipping the pars together, just can't let parts go flying everywhere.
-
No problem with the alignment, how hard of an install are those bushings? The stock one probably needs replaced anyways.
-
The tensioner plunger fell out of my timing chain tensioner. Does it need replaced or can I just slip it back in?

So basically the I want to lower my outback (legacy). The struts are blown all the way around so driving on the highway is pretty much a nightmare. Wanting to lower it on Legacy struts with H&R springs while reusing my old tophats. Is this a solid plan?
-
Here's my 04 Outback build so far. Will eventually become my daily, gonna lower it on GT stuff with H&R springs. The works. EZ30D in good shape, doing a legacy interior swap because the seats are trashed. This car is gonna be awesome. Currently rebuilding the engine to fix leaks.
-
I am also curious about using the LGT stuff on my 04 Outback Wago. Can I use the BL stuff from 2005? or atleast the springs for a more aggressive stance?
-
Hello, reviving my dead LGT account to ask an important question. I recently totaled my outback 3.0R in an accident and purchased an 04 Wagon. Clean car with average miles, has the seats with the airbags. The seats are trashed and I recently purchased some seats from a junkyard but they don’t have the airbag. Anyways, if I put the 3.3 ohm resistor in, will my front 2 bags work in the event of an accident? Thanks in advance!
