  1. I have 12k miles with the bilstein upgrade on my 06 obxt. Overall I'm happy, my only complaint is it can be a bit firm over rough road but my wife drives the car every day and she's never complained. I had to go back to the stock rims as my 18" tarmac 3s wouldn't fit the lower setup but the improved handling dynamics (with decent rubber) make a big difference.
  2. The shielding itself is fairly light so I didn't think it could be it either but its connected solidly to the chassis so the noise/vibration effect was a much lower resonance (aka "the growl") than the tinny material would suggest. In my case, I could tell it was rpm related by the noise it made which may be different than what others are experiencing.
  3. I had this problem and traced it to exhaust shielding that was rubbing on the driveline. It only happened in winter and hard acceleration in low gears, maybe the heating and cooling of the shielding when its cold gets it a little out of shape. I bent the shielding a bit where it was rubbing and the problem went away.
  4. I'm not sure direct from Hirano is going to work, I've emailed twice in the past 3 weeks and haven't got a response. Unless I'm using the wrong email address (exportdivision@hotmail.com), it looks like japanparts is the only current option.
  5. Wow, I had given up hope for an OBXT suspension upgrade and was about to to sell my AP. I'm pulling for this to work!
  6. Falken FK 452 245/45ZR18 mounted on 18" Rota Tarmac III's for my 06 OBXT MT, ~10k miles driven. I'm in Long Island, NY Aggressive Commuter use 40% Highway, 60% City Overall, the tires are a significant improvement over stock and excellent in rain/wet. They are generally quiet though I have noticed some deceleration NVR around 25-20 mph. The tires do tend to wander over uneven pavement which can make steering awkward though this may be from the increased tire/rims size and not the tire itself.
  7. +48MM offset, technically it should probably be a little more because of the increased diameter but I don't think it will make a difference.
  8. Just put a set of 18" Rota Tarmac IIIs (charcoal gray) with 245/45 Falken 452s on my 06 OBXT MT. No problems with clearance that I can tell. Here are some pics.
  9. I'm out in eastern Long Island, NY. Looking forward to reading through the site, lots of good info here!
  10. Just picked up a Black 2006 Outback XT LTD with a manual trans (w/short shift)
