  1. Mission Completed. Successfully took driver and passenger seats from a 06 GT Sedan and got them fully functional in my 06 SE Wagon.

I am writing documentation on the steps I took but for now, here she is all stitched up and going back together.

Center console put back in after carpet cleaning.

  2. So I got to dissect the wiring harness that CovertRussion sent me down to the bits and pieces that I needed. I removed my motorcycle battery to hook things up and in a couple of minutes, I was sitting in my toasty GT passenger seat in my garage. Only wish it was below 70* here in PA to appreciate the warmth

    So the circuits tested are:

    • Heated seat switch illumination
    • heated seat element (passenger side only - Driver seat is in the car
    • power passenger seat switch

  3. Update: What a disappointment today. My 2006 SE Wagon does not have the connections for heated seats in the wiring harness that runs down the tunnel from beneath my radio. At first I thought I needed a different harness under my console to plug into the R43 male connector but after reviewing the wiring diagram for the heated seats, that connector should have an additional four wires running to it.

power wire directly from fuse box

power wire from relay, fed by fuse box

    two grounds

In addition to that. When I installed the passenger seat which is power, the male end harness peice that I found under the carpet does not plug into the seat itself. It appears there is a female/male intermediate harness I need.

This is a bummer. Luckily the wiring seems very straight forward and I should be able to hook this up relatively easy with my own harness still utilizing the stock switch.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi guys,

I have come across threads of people asking questions about heated seat upgrades but have not come across a thread where someone actually successfully did so in an 05 to 07 legacy. (if you know of one please provide a link which would be awesome :) )

I am installing heated seats from a 2006 Legacy GT into my 2006 SE Wagon.

    What I have so far:

    • seats
    • control switch
    • fuse
    • relay

What I have done so far:

    • Removed original seats
    • Removed center console
    • Found passenger side power connection taped to wiring harness beneath the carpet.

Now I am stuck. I cannot locate any of the male connectors for the control switch or the seats.

I have been reviewing the Subaru Service manual and in the Rear Wiring harness, it lists

    • R41 - Seat Heater LH (4 poll plug)
    • R43 - Seat Heater Switch (20 poll plug)
    • R44 - Seat Heater RH (4 poll plug)

Looking at OEM Subaru parts, there is only one rear wiring harness offered.

I believe the male R43 listed above is the one to the rear of my center console but it only has a power and ground wire leading to it in slots 9 and 20

Do I need a different sub-harness that is under my console that currently connects only to my center console 12v socket?
