Soo... after calling and talking to a different guy, was informed that the warranty is only for up to 100k and will expire in 2022. The guy I first talked to apparently had messed a few things up there at the service desk and the guy I had spoken to wasn’t so happy about that. He also said that Subaru should’ve covered them no matter what but gave his apologies for not being able to help. 8k is what a new trans with them installing it would be. One hell of an ouch lol. I’ve done some internet digging and found a couple repo insurance yards that part out cars that have a few trans with low mileage. Figure if I could grab the vin and run it with the Subaru service and see if it was worked on within the recall I should probably go that route

Thats probably not the best way to get help, and recording that conversation will mean nothing anyway its not a legally binding contract, especially if you illegally record it.
Record wasn’t literally speaking, but yes agreed in writing would be best.

Yea idk. That’s what the guy at Romano Subaru had told me. After vacation we’re going to take it down, but before I do I think I’m going to have him say it again so I can record him saying it lol. Sounds like from what you guys are saying he may have misspoke.

If I were you, I would take your car into that dealer ASAP and have them do the repairs free of charge (under warranty). The warranty is probably 10 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) and started when the first owners bought the car. How many miles does your car have?
It’s got 170k [emoji1787] but runs and drives fantastic, I’m the second owner of it

I recall the 2010 and maybe 2011 were susceptible to an issue with needle bearings in the torque converter causing stalling when coming to an abrupt stop. Subaru addressed all CVT concerns with a ~10/100 warranty, so if you’re under 100k miles head to a dealer. If you’re over but close to that mileage maybe you could get some goodwill $ assistance from SOA.

I had contacted the Subaru dealer today and spoke with them. After running the vin number they said that it was still covered and that the warranty was good until 2022 with no mileage restriction. Should I double check with a different dealership to make sure he wasn’t smokin some crazy stuff?

Oddly enough, I just slipped into the seat of a new to us 2012 legacy. It has a trans problem as well that wasn’t disclosed when buying the car from the po. At a low speed, like as your coming to a stop or pulling into a parking space it shutters, and sometimes will stall. But it has an odd noise like the original poster is talking about with the wine noise. I haven’t looked into the issue yet but was trying to pre plan by reading through here.

Why not rebuild what you have? I’m sure if you caught it soon enough you could save most, maybe replace the crank and rods

Where is the hose that's supposed to be attached to the broken nipple?
It’s on the right side of the solenoid. I’ll take a pic of it, directly behind the alternator, small hose, plugs in the right side. I can get some pics on here tomorrow.

After fixing the bcs, you still have the 171 code? 05 had the blue T under the intercooler that is prone to leaking. It's possible there's a vacuum hose you missed so I'd start with a smoke test. Disregard all of this if you haven't fixed the bcs yet.
Still waiting for that part to come in, so I don’t really know if that does it or not yet. I guess I could have missed the “t” under the ic, I’ll look again, and also double check all of the hoses again as well. I could have easily over looked a bad spot on one of them

I haven’t driven it at all. I have a Cobb tune in now, but if that’s not enough then I guess I’ll have to grab a tactrix cable. Can’t the purge solenoid cause an this code?
***edit***
Prior to my parts install, the car was running fine, and was stock. Had no codes at all. I had a leaky pcv breather hose, I tore into it to fix that hose, and that’s when I had the p0171 code, ever since then. I only drove it like ten miles, if that. I don’t drive the car much, but come spring, it would be nice to drive with some power behind it.

Cleared codes after checking hoses and wiring.
P0171 comes back. If hoses and wires/plugs are all in order, where else can one look to find the cause of this code

Got around to putting some upgrades in my car. ‘05 LGt. Invidia up and down pipe, could air intake, vf52 turbo, and Cobb tuner. Install went well, but I did snap the nipple off the boost control solenoid, which has been Ordered just isn’t here yet. These are the p codes I’ve had since the work has been done. p0244, p0457, p0171. The only thing not fully connected at the moment is the bcs. Will this clear up those issues ?
