  1. Sorry, but experience is exactly what R&D gets you. If you are sloppy and only test on one car, or one hardware configuration, it's very easy to make mistakes like this. To compound this sloppiness with big claims on solving known issues with this car is pretty stupid. The lack of follow up after the fact is simply appalling.

    R&D - Fair point. You're not wrong.

On top of things, there still could be a design issue when you start scaling up with additional parts. An open flapper is still going to be in the way of the wastegate dump tube. But we don't know for sure yet since we don't have anyone who has properly ported the turbo to make the wastegate more efficient while running an aftermarket BPV.

Excuse my ignorance for a moment - BPV and BOV are the same thing yeah? Because i have done the port on the turbo and i run a Turbosmart BOV.

Or are you saying that no one using this DP specifically has done it?

  2. It's not that simple, not every install has resulted in overboost. So far it seems to be the full turbo back with aftermarket bpv and otherwise stock turbo which is resulting in boost creep.

I had the same problem with a high flow DP installed. So, i'm not a mechanic, but is it possible that the problem is with the exhaust housing of the turbo not being able to handle extreme amounts of flow more than it is a poorly designed product for Nameless?

  3. What we need is a member with uncontrolled over boost to try porting the wastegate and see what the results are. A few degrees more opening might* help but IMO I don't think it's hurting much if any.

I may be able to help with a little info and some evidence.

    Disclaimer:

Picture heavy post for evidence and all numbers are on an Australian dyno, because well, i'm Australian.

I run a no name (not nameless, i legit have no idea where it came from) DP with high flow cat and X-force the rest of the way back.

It's a long story involving shitty manufacturers services, misfires and boost leaks as to how i got to this point however i was overboosting like a boss! My mechanic spent a few hours checking things, changing things and looking for restrictiors etc all to no avail - She just wouldn't drop below 21psi and this is on wast gate.

Nath (mechanic), has done his fair share of Subies in his time and suggested boring out the exhaust housing - he's a close friend and a dope mechanic so obviously i told him to go ahead.

When we pulled the snail - i say "we" it was mostly him - we noticed that the actuator won't fully open because it's fouled by the housing so we hit it with the die grinder and removed the offending material (photo is pretty terrible because of the new shiny surface).

Then proceeded to bore the housing because there is a gnarly lump in on the way to the waste gate.

Back on the Dyno and it was manageable again. I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head - i want to say to 14psi - but Paul (tuner) said that they were where they should be on waste gate. Sadly i don't have a sheet for the waste gate only runs - sorry.

She's running 16psi now with no problems - Pretty sure the sheet for this is in my car, i'll try to remember to grab a photo and chuck it up.
