    Engine: fully forged bottom end, 9:1 comp pistons, STi intake manifold, ported heads, gs power division 272 cams, STi oil pump, 850 cc injectors, 300 lph fp, full catless exhaust, stock exhaust manifold, amr cxr 550 turbo in STi fitment, avo legacy fmic, Gfb bov, probablly more mods but i cant remember them all but it's listed in my build thread "funny noise turned out terribly"

    Transmission: 05 STi 6mt, STi linkage, group n mounts, 05 legacy 4 eat drive shaft, 05 STi r180

    Hp&tq: no idea car was street tuned

    Fuel: 93 oct no meth

    Tires: fallen zeix 225/45/17 on stock rims 28 psi

    Lane: right lane 11.668 @124!

    Other mods: tein s tech springs, dba 4000 f&r rotors, hawk hp+ f&r pads, removed spare tire and tools.

  2. Hello fellow subarubians!

    This is my first post on this site and gotta say lovin' the site so far!

     

    I just purchased an 05 Legacy GT limited with torn inside front CV boots.

    I think that they've recently torn because there is still a good amount of grease in there. What is the best way to go about rectifying this? I would certainly rather replace just the boots but I'm not sure that is the best way to go about in terms of long-lasting solutions... Thoughts?

    Just got back from my tune at Topspeed. Thankfully i have taken all of my past subaru's there to be tuned, so i can do come head to head dyno comparison.

     

    -My set up

    05 LGT w/100k miles

    Bnr 18g/perrin tmic/grimmspeed ebcs

    stock intake with k&n

    Full exhaust with high flow catted down pipe

    Dw 65c fuel pump and 850cc injectors

     

    -The numbers

    A little disappointed in the numbers, i was expecting ~320whp and ~350wtq on this dyno.

    Here you see my 21psi pump gas map and 17psi DD map. Besides the tq just being a bit shy of my expectations, it took longer in my lgt to reach peak tq then in my similar hp wrx and sti, the turbo would be fully spooled, but wouldnt hit peak tq until another 500-750 rpms later(maybe this is a lgt intake manifold thing). On the hp front, the maf was locked @ 4.6v's for about 1k rpms in the upper power band(right where the car holds 300whp), we have a good suspicion that we reached a flow bottle neck at this point limiting me to ~300whp, perhaps the oem inlet?

     

    Overall the car is much faster however, i suspect it has gone from a ~102mph stage 2 car to a ~108mph car. Much more power up high, the car no longer has a tq spike and falls on its face higher in the rev range.

     

    Anyways, here is a neat comparo for you to digest. My 05 sti and 02 WRX with stock motors and vf-39 on pump gas vs my 18 LGT on pump gas. 21psi for all cars. Enjoy!

  4. Ok, I'll bite. I'll help make your question(s) easier to understand. You won't get any answers here though, you'll need to post in the correct section. Don't take offense, I'm just trying to be helpful. I recommend creating a new thread in the Turbo Powertrains section. That would be the perfect place to discuss your unique problem, and a really great place to show us pictures of exactly what you're talking about.
  5. Stock injectors should be fine on a stock VF46. I imagine you'll have trouble hitting 22psi with a stock boost controller, you might want to upgrade to an EBCS. For reference, I have a JmP Custom VF46, and my tune targets around 19psi with a GS EBCS, using max wastegate duties of around 70-75% on the stock wastegate spring.

     

    I assume you're planning on getting an actual tune done, and not using a Cobb OTS tune? You should not be running an intake without getting a proper tune, and until you do, I'd stay out of boost. You can likely get an e-tune done from a decent tuner without a wideband, but getting a wideband will speed up and improve the process, for sure.

     

    Plenty of e-tuners on the forum here. I'll go ahead and jump in before Max Capacity does (:lol:) and recommend Tuning Alliance for your tuning needs.

    Cobb didn't have too much to add and the unit was fully updated. It probably has something to do with the ECU being replaced (different model #) but I'm not 100% sure. Anyhow I ended up selling the Cobb and will probably just look into a custom tune down the road.

  7. I try not to change more then one major variable at the time, thus I tested AVCS first then mocked with timing. I have tried running 20 AVCS and 35* timing, which didn't seem to help, but I tested it on a one way trip. With this car I've noticed the only accurate way to test MPG's is going to the same exact city consistently and long one way fill trips are to be taken with a grain of salt.
  8. So I just bought an AP for my 06 LGT and was only at about 10 lbs of boost max on the Cobb OTS Stage 1 map, which should top out at about 15 IIRC.

     

    Through the log most of the time I was in 1-3 gear. Weather was in the low 70s and humid and my car is completely stock except for a K&N Panel AF.

     

    Any help looking over the log or any recommendations of what to check next would be helpful.

  9. Well I am assuming non-turbo, run of the mill, engines that use to burn no oil in previous iterations now burning a quart every 1000 miles. Some do burn oil and some don't. I am thinking of buying a new Impreza and would rather pass on it if it will be an oil burner. My wife's 96 2.2L Legacy burns no oil in 10,000 miles. I know it burns some but you can't tell on the dip stick. I use M1 10W30 in it or the HM version. There have been problems with the last few years of Subaru engines. I think the 2.5L burning oil. There is a class action law suit about it. So what I am asking is, is there some manufacturing defect, oil additives, valve seals etc that are responsible for so many oil burning engines. A new 4 banger should not burn over a quart every 5000 miles. My V10 Excursion uses a quart every 1500-2000 miles. Even the old Air Cooled VW engines did not burn that much oil.

     

    I am mainly concerned about the newer 2.0L flat 4 in the new cars.
