traildogck replied to madrig's topic in Member Classifieds (2005 - 2009)
Just paid. With a 3rd OBXT, it seemed only fitting. @madrig does great work. All 3 girls get nearly the same treatment. LittleBlu gets something special. Thanks for your fine work. -

I liked them so much, I got one of each car. Every time I look out my windscreen or approach my car, I think about what nice work it it and how it adds just a touch of custom to the hood. -

I have nothing but good things to say about my new hood scoop. I received it to toady. It was impeccably packed. Out of the box it is gorgeous. The fit is spot on and the curb side glance and close inspection are also gorgeous. I would recommend this hood scoop to anyone who wants to add a unique custom touch to their hood. -
I am a recovering career carpenter currently working as a construction project manager by Day. Custom finish millwork and casework. By night, my side hustle ... I am a urethane artist who's ebay links are also banned from this forum. My CKE SSP threads are alive and well, however.

Nothing like a good foodie thread...There is a great one on the Outback Forum, pretty decent traction on the Ascent forum as well.

Anyone who knows better, will never tell you owning a turbo Subaru is cheap. Especially the platforms we own. Trust me, I know this hard lesson well, I have 2. The avenues for mods are endless. Then folks like some of us come along and go 2 or 3 levels deeper into specialty mods. As a fellow fabricator of specific specially products...I love it. -

I am ready for one now. I was debating material, but since Cherry still has a decent looking red paint. The the raw CF would be a nice accent. Carbon Fiber for Cherry Bomb. PM sent. -

madrig I got your PM. I haven't been around in a while. My regular project manager day job is currently managing me. NOT good. I am interested in 1 if have any left. Maybe 2, I do have 2 cars after all. But I don't build or mod on credit, so it is a little fluid at the moment. -

Tribeca 25mm sway bars on 4th gen legacy GT?

Enjoy the bar even more with a proper advanced hybrid bushing design from CKE SSP -
I have always known someday, I might cross paths with Dave/CryoTune. After a run for lunch, (mailing several sets of CKE SSP sway bar bushings and inserts) I was waiting at a stoplight, I saw a pretty clean, lifted 4Runner to my left ( a couple gens old) with raised white letter AT tires on it. I didn't pay much attention past that. Since I live in the city and I don't wheel anymore, I don't pay much attention to trucks unless they are trying to run over me. Evidently, Dave saw my SDSC (South Denver Subaru Club) decal on my rocker ... Next thing I know, We are chatting in the parking lot near my office. Truth be told, I am working at a new job and when I was on my interview day, I turned down the wrong dead end road...I found a couple of bug-eyes wearing huge flycatcher scoops, I looked up and saw ... CyroTune. It has been my intention over the last month to stop in over lunch. Fortunately/Unfortunately CKE SSP has me busy where I am running to the PO often enough I have not been able to drop by. I now have an invitation/excuse to put Cherry on Dave's Heartbreak Dyno. And maybe do some tuning work as well. I have been satisfied with my tuner, but I have also encouraged to branch out and utilize local, resources.

Tribeca 25mm sway bars on 4th gen legacy GT?
traildogck replied to Fxiong09's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
True. One would expect that the design and materials of the hollow bar would be a "better" level or equal. Otherwise there is no advantage at all. It would make little sense to design and inferior tubercular bar at greater expense. Has anyone pulled out their calipers yet? -
Tribeca 25mm sway bars on 4th gen legacy GT?
traildogck replied to Fxiong09's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
I am no engineer. I am a suspension/chassis nut and a good observer. Lets talk about a few things. Gross Vehicle Weight. The Tribeca can be said to share the same chassis architecture as Gen5 Legacy/Gen4 Outback. The 'Beca is heavier. The is no real room to start packaging 28 or 30mm bars up front. The largest solid bar to date on an OEM Subaru is 26mm, packaged on the 2012-2014 3.6R cars. The 2.5 and 3.6 (2010-2012) have a 24mm bar. Again, I was under the impression the Tribeca has a 26mm bar, but if it is 25mm, that's even better to my point. The tubular bar must be stronger than the solid steel bar. The Tribeca doesn't need less body control than a Legacy, it needs more. I doubt they used a hollow bar for weight reduction. A tubular sway bar is more expensive to make. Bending solid noodles is easy compared to a tube. Try rolling new brake lines. When they re-designed the Legacy platfom for 2015. The sway bar diameter dropped to 21mm across all engine platforms. However, the endlink attaches to the strut, not the control arm. -
Tribeca 25mm sway bars on 4th gen legacy GT?

I have had Energy Suspensions sway bar brackets and bushing on other cars. All I can say is, come over to the dark side of real Subaru custom bushing. Those in the link are not garbage, but they are nothing special and were not very durable for my past applications when I used them. When you are ready to step up. Come see CKE SSP products. -

I do not necessarily agree with this. Do you have any supporting data? I am not trying to be a "richard", but tubular steel pipe stock is stronger (resisting bending and twisting) than the same size solid stock. You never see custom (4) link suspensions made out of solid stock, NEVER. It's always a tube -

This is why I think CKE SSP is better than AVO. I attached a thumbnail, Download it if you can't read it. -
Tribeca 25mm sway bars on 4th gen legacy GT?
traildogck replied to Fxiong09's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
The AVO rear is a 21mm, the front a 23mm. I have them both. Also the AVO brackets are NOT the only ones out there. CKE SSP (Me) I make HD and light duty in both steel and aluminum. I developed these because I also had the AVO reinforcement brackets and I don't like they way they affect straight line handling. I think mine solution is better, but most folks like to drink the orange kool-aid. The above is my light duty aluminum with the WL 20mm (its powdercoated) AND my 20mm rear bushing and strap upgrade kit. Can someone put a caliper on the Tribeca bar? I have a XRT tuning buddy who had a 3.0 Leggy sedan. He had Raptor headers and a custom exhaust. However, back then, he was saying it was a 26mm bar. I have done all the research I can on the dealer parts websites and I cannot find out for sure. Usually it will say on the part number pic, either the bar or the bushing. However nothing. Subaru usuall has a 23, on the 24mm bushing. A 25 on the 26mm, a 20 on the 21mm. They decrease the bushing ID 1mm under the bar diameter. All of the CKE SSP bushing are direct copies of the OEM.(complete with part number) The Tribeca bushing has a 235 on it the best I can view. That to me would mean 23.5 ... maybe. Either way the Tribeca bushing will not seat on the Gen4 subframe, it's a different shape. The Tribeca straps are outrageous, $40 each I think. If someone can put a caliper on a real life bar. I can make a bushing for it. And the Ascent or Gen5 Leggy front strap will work. The Gen5 requires some modification. The Ascent strap bolts right up. It would be similar to this on my front bar. This is the Gen5, and I am thinking the bushing from the 3.6R Leggy (2012-2014, 26mm bar is going to be the ticket.
