  1. Hello

My 2006 Legacy Gt will not rev past 4000 rpm it also has almost no power and very poor acceleration and is throwing the P2096 code. I had a VF-52 pun in a few weeks ago as well as tune the code came up before the tune. Could it be one of the O2 sensors or a clogged cat?

Wanted add that my gas consumption has gotten very high since the rev problem started.

  2. Have you started the car since the this issue ?

Have you done a oil change and checked the drain pan for metal ?

If you feel like its not to bad, you can drive the car next to a wall of a building with the windows down, you can hear a lot doing that.

Have you had that other turbo checked out to make sure its good ?

What are you plans for the car ?

Here's what the OEM DP looks like, these are from my cars.

Thank you for all the info and pictures!

I had not driven the car since last November and started driving it again in mid April. I had the oil changed at the dealer about a week after starting drive to drive it again so did not check the oil.

I checked the other turbo for play and it is good.

plans are just to do the new turbo and a tune. Installed JMD Bilsteins

shocks and springs as well as AVO +0.50 Caster Adjustment Control Arm Bushings.

Not really thinking of doing much more to it at the moment.

  3. Its hard to advise you not to drop the DP without being there to hear the sound.

these vf40's are know to have shaft bearing issues. BUT normally you'll get the P0011/P0021 CEL. Like most of have over the 16 years I've been on here.

How many miles on the car ?

I don't recall getting either of those codes.

    154,000 miles

  4. I would do your best to keep it out of boost.

You need to pull the downpipe and check for shaft play if your pretty sure its the turbo.

    I gather the car has a 5eat and not a 5mt transmission ?

You need to remove the down pipe in order to reach the turbo shaft.

If you still have the have the stock DP on the car, it will be a PITA to remove. The first time.

I see where you live. ESP up in Sterling MA is a great place and knows these cars well.

My wagon was on there dyno and they did work on my car back in 2011.

We haven't asked you yet if this is the OEM turbo ?

    Man that sucks!

Yes, stock turbo and down pipe

  5. Sorry I cant' really hear it.

The Turbo will be more of a whistle sound. the 5mt's are know to be loud from gear whine.

The PS pump is more of a deeper whine.

I hear all three everyday. Well my turbo is more of its normal sound of spooling, like when your on the highway next to a semi at the bottom of a hill. As he rolls into the throttle, you'll hear his turbo spool.

It's definitely more of a whistling. I'll try to get a better recording to post

  6. Sounds like you're on the right track. It wouldn't be hard to make your own and give it a try. Have you tried checking the power wire at the starter with a test light? It should be very bright. If the ground is not clean, that can cause a similar problem. May be a dumb question, but did you connect the power wire to the correct terminal on the starter?

have not tried checking the power at the starter. I have a multimeter and can check it with that, what voltage am I looking for?

Also what fuse should I be looking at?
