  1. Which bolts? The steering wheel nut or ones holding on the airbag/horn assembly? Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  2. Got the OBD working thanks to Maestro tech support. There was a hidden menu in the head unit that needed to be activated. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  3. Got most things wired up! Wife is driving the car for a few days so it had to be tidy [emoji14] I'm not super happy with the Metra fitment, the trim isn't square to the fascia and it would be much better if the unit was angled up a little so the bottom lip was closer to the center of the car. I'm very tall (6'6") so the top half of the notification bar on android auto is cut off from my normal viewing angle. It also puts the volume knob well back and is somewhat difficult to reach, but I am still happy with this choice of head unit over the other AA options out there. What isn't done yet is the b/u camera, sub, and Garmin Mini dashcam. The microphone provided by Sony was DOA so I don't quite have handsfree Android Auto working, but it'll do nav and Spotify just fine! The Maestro isn't sending OBD information to the stereo yet, not sure what the issue is with that. I tidied up the looms behind the stack (second pic), and once I have the OBD issue and sub install sorted I'll probably stick the Maestro to that metal bracket with some double sided tape. For now it's jammed in place by the trim and doesn't rattle around, so I'm content (but not satisfied). Crutchfield really helped out with identifying parking brake and reverse signal wires. Maestro's instructions assume you have an auto and don't need to tap those signals, but if you have a manual you really do have to tap those signals in the car. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks Bruzno! I don't suppose you'd have a diagram showing the base model radio setup? Or is it just assumed that the extra functions (hook) are simply absent? I have a Maestro RR wired in, so I can long-press the seek button to answer and hang up, which does seem to work. I might just leave the steering wheel controls as-is for now until I get really tired of the look! Unfortunately I don't have a parking brake signal coming from the chassis loom via the Maestro, so I'm going to be on the phone with Crutchfield quite a bit this morning I think.
  5. I harassed some poor soul at subaruonlinenparts and confirmed that the steering roll connector part number does not change across trim levels, so that's a little bit of good news!
  6. Fight the good fight, stick to your guns. Don't let the dealer tell you that the car magically developed an issue while under their care and control but it's somehow your fault.
  7. Took off the steering wheel and checked out the wiring today. In the first picture you see the wires coming left out of the loom are black (ground) and blue/white are the control signal wires. From what I gather, there should be another wire in there (orange?) If I had the premium audio controls in there. Makes sense that the wire is absent, because I don't have the steering wheel controls. So the next question is whether the chassis harness contains the wires for the premium audio controls (picture 2). The colours don't exactly match so I can't trace them all by colour code. I also pulled the radio trim. (Picture 3 and 4) A simple set of plastic trim removal tools is such a great investment! The Bluetooth unit is actually mounted to the trim. This is going to be removed when I install the Sony HU as the radio has its own BT and mic. Yet another trip to online parts to order the $70+ storage tray! I think the black wire is switched power, it runs up to the steering column but I had out the wheel back on before I pulled the trim. It started raining so I closed up the car to come back in to post. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  8. Hey gang, long time lurker here, finally doing something worthy of posting! Quick intro: I've got a 2010 Outback Sport (2.5i manual w/sunroof, base audio, bluetooth handsfree unit in Canada). I've lowered it on Legacy GT shocks and springs up front, and the Outback spring in a Koni Yellow Legacy GT shock body in the rear. Thicker rear swaybar. Class 3 Curt hitch with a 7 pin trailer connection for pulling a camper with electric brakes and a small sailboat. I dream of eventually building this into a Legacy GT Wagon, but for now simple electrical and bolt-on mods are all that I'm able to manage. I've ordered a Sony XAV-AX210, Sound Ordnance B-8PTD sub, and associated bitties from Crutchfield. Got a backup camera off Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07V69C8Q4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And I'll be installing all this fun this week if the weather holds. Related issue: my steering wheel controls have become intermittent, so I'm going to order a replacement unit from Subaruonlineparts.com. Does anyone know if the wiring from the steering wheel to the radio area on my car has the additional wires required for the premium audio controls (call answer and hangup buttons)? My current controls on the left side are just 4 buttons, the premium system has 6. Are they on the same existing wires and just sending a different signal? I may be able to answer my own question as I go about the radio install, but I'd love to know if anyone has tried this or better yet has a link to a good wiring diagram. I'm always open to useful suggestions! I would have posted this on subaruoutback.org but I've found that community to be very mod-hostile (how dare I question the genius of the OEM?). I have this youtube playlist as inspiration/reference material: Let me know if you guys have any suggestions, warnings, jokes, or tips! Thanks!
  9. Thanks! That's what I figured, I've already done the Legacy GT springs and shock conversion (with Koni rear shock and the OB rear compressed into the shorter shock... no bottoming out yet!) so I'm slowly building the wagon I want instead of what's available
  10. Regarding interior bits, the 5th gen Leggy is equivalent to the 4th gen OB, yes? I'm interested in seats (fronts, obviously the rears will be different) and dash.
