How does Kenwood / Subaru justify a V11 release that they promote as October 2017 using files dated July 2015 or earlier? For $238+ ?

What is the most recent file timestamp on the V11 disks?

Version 11.0 (Oct 2017) has now been released.

Okay, so I burned version 10 and installed it on my 5th gen Legacy over the weekend. It works just fine and still gives turn by turn navigation. The interface doesn't look any different than version 8 though...

 

Given that the V10 was released 2015AUG (with 2014 data files) for the 4th Gen Legacy and there is no indication of future updates, I wonder if the reverse will work. Does V9 version (86283FG270) which was released 2016JUL for the 5th Gen Legacy work in the 4th gen Legacy?

Update - time stamps on the files are from 9/14.

That is very disappointing. It seems legally questionable to sell 2014SEP files as a 2015AUG V10 release. It is an 11 month difference.

Here's a question, considering V10 came out in August of last year (and these seem to be yearly updates) would it be worth waiting a month or two for V11 to drop?

 

There was a 2.5 year gap between V8 (JAN2013) and V9 (APR2015) releases. However, the V9 had file time stamps of JUL2013!?! Surprisingly, V10 then appeared AUG2015. Maybe Subaru thought better of selling map files generated JUL2013 as a APR2015 release with V9. I do not know what the file time stamps for V10 are.

I wouldn't doubt it - there are roads near me that were built in 2014 that did not make it onto the map.

It is questionable (legal?) that Kenwood markets the update as a April 2015 release, yet the data files are from July 2013. And they are selling this update for $238 plus shipping!

A friend just purchased version 9.0, which was released April 2015. While the version file indicates 9.0, the file timestamps are all July 2013! This seems very wrong.
