  1. I tried XM for the first 2 years and give up on them. Totally wasted my money on the second year since I quit using XM a couple months into that year. Found I only listen to 2 or 3 music channels and got real tired of the same 50 or 60 songs over and over. Went to a USB thumb drive and loaded it up with 5 or more gigs of MP3 music and never looked back. Still get offers over the phone and mail and I hang up on them or throw the mailers away.
  2. I had a couple of tears on my driver seat when I forgot to take a screw driver out of my back pocket. I took it to a local shop that does this kind of wok to have it repaired. It took almost all day and less than $200. When I got the car back the seat looked brand new. Your cost mot likely will be different in your area.
  3. I had the seal on my gas cap go bad where it caused the check engine light to come on at a half tank of gas. It disabled eyesight and VDC and out of lane warnig but it did not affect the engine and transmission at all. Something else is doing that. Now this is truly a wild ass guess, but with computers controlling everything on cars these days I would add those to the list of things to look at.
  4. When I had my 30K service done in Fayetteville, AR the dealer wanted $260. The Dealer labor rates down here are $100 per hour which may be much lower than in PA or CA or AK which I came from 6 years ago. At that time the Anchorage labor rate was almost $200 an hour. My next service will be the 60K one which will be $660 from the print out they gave me after I asked for a price. Parts will be the same cost everywhere or close, it's the labor cost that will kill you.
  5. What do you folks use to keep bugs from sticking to the windshield like glue. All the wipers do is either nothing at all or spread bug guts over the windshield. The only way it seems to clean the windshield is finding a good rainstorm or lots of elbow grease. I have tried RainX which helps a bit and different washer fluids which does nothing so far.

    Thanks

  6. Last year the wife and I drove from Arkansas to SD then west to the I5, I90, I405 parking lots called seattle. Then we drove South to Oragon to see a old friend then NV, CO. NE and back home. I had a oil change done before we left and did another after we got back. Trip was about 4000 to 5000 miles. Only complaint I had with the car was the 2.5 would not do the speed limit in the Idaho mountains with out sounding like the engine was going to explode.
  7. Well I just got done replacing my LED low beams with the XenonDepot HID kit. For the most part it was easy with a couple of small issues the folks at XenonDepot help out with. First I tried to plug the wrong connector into the cars wiring headlight connector. Pins had different spacing so they did not fit. Must be a common call since the tech on the other end quickly set me straight. I also had to switch pins on one of the connectors and it took me a while to get the locking pins to release. Anyway the lights are working and I have not headed onto the roads at night to see how many people flash their high beams at me. Since I do not trust the double sided tape I used extra tie wraps that I had to lock the modules tightly to the frame.
  8. I don't see a fix for the usb memory card input repeatedly, annoyingly, and without fail not loading my info until I ask to see the list. Then it loads, while playing music from the stick and the display says no files found. I have to unplug the stick, turn the car off, then restart, plug the stick in, wait 5 minutes to load and then all my music is there to select from. Same method everytime. Never had this issue in any of my cars, with the same stick plugged in. Grrr... Anyone know why this happens or a fix for it?

I had this problem with a old USB 1 disk if I went over a couple of hundred songs. Once I waited 15 minutes for the list to load, pulled the thumb drive and found the disk corrupted. Once I moved to a 32gig USB 3 stick those slow indexing times and other issues went away.

  9. Found out my problems with my music disk was trying to use that old USB 1 thumb drive. Looks like USB 1 drives will work for a few files but the read times for a large number of files makes them unuseable. I decided to try a 32 gig thumb drive and found I can put all our music ( about 500 songs ) on it and the head unit had it all indexed in two to three minutes. I found the head unit did not like music files encoded with 320 Kbits, at least that was the case with the USB 1 drive.
  10. I have had no end of trouble creating a USB drive with music and it seems like if you keep the directories and files count to under 254 then it seems to work without any troubles. I also may have tried putting a song or songs on the drive the head unit could not handle. I had a old 2 gig stick that I got from a NAB vendor which I used and had to reformat it several times since the head unit seemed to corrupt files if I went over the 254 total file count and the head unit would say indexing forever IE over 15 minutes. Yes I formatted the drive first.

Shuffle seems to work fine for me and I like how it starts to play the same song when you turn off the car and restart it. From my experiance so far it seems the head unit may write to the USB drive but I have not looked at the drive on my computer yet.
