I have a 2005 Legacy GT that is throwing a P0340 Intake Cam Sensor Bank 1 code. The code pops up while cranking in a very specific way: When starting the car after clearing the code, it sputters but does not catch and start after the first crank, and then immediately throws the code. If I keep cranking the second crank catches and the car starts and runs just fine. This is repeatable - I’ve been able to do it 2-3 times in a row in my driveway. I’ve replaced the bank 1 intake cam sensor, and I’ve even tried disconnecting the alternator to see if a noisy alternator signal is causing the issue (see this thread: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2786898&page=2 ) and neither have resolved the code. Any ideas as to what might be the culprit? How do I test the power/harness connection to the sensor?

Verdict: I trimmed about 1/4" - 3/8" off the end that connects to the turbo, and everything seemed to fit better, especially the BPV attachment point. For those searching in the future, this was on a 2005 Legacy GT MT, with a Perrin PSP-INT-421BK inlet tube (2.4" turbo connector) and a BNR 16G Evo 3 turbo.

Broken TGV sensor, which one do I order????
InsatiableAmos replied to Zac88's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Thanks! I kept searching after posting this and found this thread: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fs-nyc-tps-tgv-sensor-and-tgv-motors-197431.html?t=197431&highlight=22633AA210 The Subaru part number in that thread is: #22633AA210 There doesn't seem to be a way to verify that the TPS sensor is the same as the TGV sensor, and no local subaru dealerships had 'em in stock to buy and test. When I searched the part number above, I found this Duralast part at AutoZone and grabbed one: https://www.autozone.com/engine-management/throttle-position-sensor-tps/duralast-throttle-position-sensor-tps-tps4117/332743_0_0 I expect it'll work just fine, but I'll let you all know if it doesn't! Thanks! Wish I'd seen this a day or two ago - I would've loved your help before I pulled the trigger on that sensor above... -
Broken TGV sensor, which one do I order????
InsatiableAmos replied to Zac88's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Just broke my TGV Sensor and am getting a P2016... Anyone know the part number for the actual SENSOR and not the TGV motor or full assembly? I'm having an impossible time finding it, and the local dealerships are throwing up their hands confused... -
I've been (cursedly) working through installing a Perrin stock-location turbo inlet tube the past few days. I finally got everything in place and lined up to find that the BPV fitting is blocked by some hard lines rising out of the engine block! I pulled the inlet out and compared it to the stock tube to see the difference - the Perrin BPV fitting is almost exactly 1" closer to the front of the car than the stock BPV inlet fitting. It appears that I should be able to trim 1/2" - 3/4" off the turbo-end of the inlet pipe and everything would line up better, but I figured I'd ask before making moves I can't reverse. Has anyone had to trim their inlet to get it to fit? There's a change a larger compressor housing on my new turbo is partially to blame as well - moved up to the BNR 16G evo 3 turbo... Pic of the stock vs. Perrin inlet together so you can see the difference in BPV location below.

I was able to successfully attach one, but it won't let me add subsequent photos. I've tried both Chrome and Safari browsers (on a mac), and the files are all JPGs. Here's the post: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/ma-legacy-gt-limited-wagon-5mt-6-998-280877.html Any ideas what might be the issue?

fs - location: (MA) - Unmodified 2005 Legacy GT Limited Wagon 5EAT

You're not up by Tufts, are you? I'm right near powder house rotary and see a street-parked wagon around the neighborhood that looks exactly like yours... If it is in fact that same car, it's a good looking wagon -
Now that’s a good lookin car...

Silver! Good move on the all road - those are sweet. What year?

Anyone in Somerville, or the general CamberVille zone? Just got my LGT Wagon back in May and have been loving it

I stumbled across this beautiful GT wagon earlier in the year and grabbed it before it fell into the wrong hands! It needed some love, but after brakes all around, a new exhaust, and some heavy detailing I love the thing. Having driven a million Imprezas, it's clear the LGT is a serious step up in build quality and comfort.

Haha, that guy sure is crazy Jokes aside, that’s a killer build. I’m curious, is there enough room around the EZ30 for a super short header into a twin-turbo setup the way it’s done on the Porsche 996 Turbo? Even if the headers were a little longer to allow for the turbo to be just in front of or just behind the engine? Here’s a 996 Turbo post with a few really good shots of the underside for example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-porsche-911-turbo-62/

Legacybt 6mt Compromised Autocross Build
InsatiableAmos replied to legacybt's topic in Legacy Photos (2005-2009)
Phew. That brembo adapter failure must've got your heart racing! That would've been scary to discover any number of other ways... -
Have had the idea in the back of my head for a long time and am curious - does anyone know of any good turbo 6-cyl subaru builds? Would love some links to anything that's particularly noteworthy...I've searched around a bit. I'm aware it would take some work on the internals, but so does an EJ257 beyond a certain power level...
