  1. I wonder if the higher CCA really produces a faster crank speed when starting. The current CCA (I think 300) oem batteries seem woefully slow to crank in the cold temps.
  2. One thing that I had an issue with was the front shutter. Check to make sure there are no rocks or debris impeding either the shutter opening or closing in the lower grille. I had a rock that was blocking the shutters from opening and it popped a check engine light. Dennis
  3. I don't recall seeing a check engine light when eyesight has been disabled for any reason, heavy rain, fog etc. I have a feeling whatever is causing the check engine light is what is disabling your eyesight.
  4. Exactly same here. my 2000 Passat went 401K never needing wheel bearings. Unless there is a defect in the bearing or spindle, I dont think sealed bearing should ever need to be changed unless there are extenuating circumstances.
  5. I had a rock stuck that wouldnt allow the shutters to close. It was large enough to fith through the grill and landed at the bottom row and blocked the shutter.
  6. Yes they are under warranty and replaced with out question. I think Subaru should extend the warranty on these as there is obviously and issue with the design for this many to fail.
  7. Just had our 15 legacy in for 54K oil change and mentioned a bearing noise in rear. As I suspected, both rears needed to be changed. I think this should either be a recall or have a warranty extension period. Seems there are a lot of these needing to be replaced.
  8. I too am starting to hear a bearing sound in the right rear at 47K. Question for all, prior to the bearing failing, has anyone else noticed a drivetrain vibration that preceded this? Ever since new, I had a driveline vibration, multiple tire rebalances, rotations etc. Dealer could never determine. It seems now that I am getting the wheel bearing whine the vibration has disappeared. Coincidence? Not sure, but I will mention to the dealer.
  9. I think I am about to join this "wheel bearing" club. I noticed right around 60mph there is a noise that seems to be coming from passenger rear. I dont think its the tires as didnt notice the noise until I took off the snow tires. I am going to have dealer check at next oil change.
  10. For the past week or so I have been getting CEL on the active shutters, which for some odd reason also kills the EyeSight. I was about to make an appointment when I thought I would do some investigating. I found a rock the size of a marble that ended up behind the shutters and was impeding them from opening. I know there have been some here where the snow and ice have caused this issue. Just thought I would share before anyone makes a trip to the dealer. I had to use a very bright flashlight and look down beside the hood latch. As my shutters were stuck closed, that was the only place I had a clear view.
  11. I think they have to do a pressure test cold and another when engine is up to operating temperature.
