I thought so when I installed it then I read on some other sites & in the haynes manual to put it in with the little ball valve facing the front of the engine. I couldnt see how it mattered either but I hadnt added coolant yet so I took it back out & made sure it was facing how the haynes manual said just for peace of mind really. I burped the system & the car is running great.

Oh yes I understand that part but does it need to be rotated a certain way?

Ok I have a stupid question. Which way does the thermostat go back in the housing? Ive searched & it says the little valve should face upward. Does that mean facing the front of the engine?
