  1. Do you have a link for this bulb? I recently bought some 1SMD blue LED's off Amazon... looks like the same ones. I also wanted a dimmer LED. The 5SMD in my opinion is a little to bright for everyday driving.

ALSO - I've had the same issue as Andrew had with the Cutequeen 5SMD Blue LED's !!!! Had one of them burn out in just 2 days! I CANNOT recommend these LED's. The purchase I made from Amazon included 4 LED's, so I replaced the malfunctioning LED with another and it's been working out okay. Still... I've only had them in a few weeks, I'm not expecting them to hold up.

    This is the eBay website:http://www.ebay.com/itm/301664643255?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

They seem to be working fine, but for the price the ones that andrewsl_s found seem to be a good source. Lets put it this way, at the low price all of these come in at it would behove us to find the highest quality. I must say that since seeing the bulb failure I will keep an eye on mine. So far no indication of heat. 1smd vs. 5smd involves a lot more wiring and soldering.

  2. I just select the songs in a playlist and drag them to a named folder on the drive. I am able to select from song, album, artist, composer, genre ect. Doesn't really take that long to boot up.With the USB drive already selected from a previous start I timed the period it took for all the files to show up so that I can select any song from the 1496 I have on this file and it took 1:38 (98 seconds) timed from my iPhone. I think that is pretty fast!
  3. Citadel - are your playlists just folders with all of the songs in there?

I noticed with my overnight test drives that it did have to be FAT32, and videos have to be a certain resolution/format as well -- that's another story for another day. Mostly focused on music for now.

ammcinnis - most of my music should be "tagged" properly, but I will have to double check. Luckily iTunes makes this fairly simple to change tags for all music within an album, for example. It will still be a painstaking process, but worth it if I can have ALL my music available on one source.

Any word on whether/how the voice controls work with USB?

    Thanks guys!

Finally looked how I did it. Sorry for the delay. I created a folder and copied the playlist to that folder.

andrew_l_s I switched to this bulb because of the lower light output (wanted) and the fact that it is recessed and does not need a cover to protect it. Once installed it is almost flush with the panel. As we experiment with this new tech of leds I'm sure we will come across quality control problems. What is interesting from your photo is that the contacts look to be burned. Could the problem be the socket? Not making a good contact, causing it to arch could be the problem. I would check it out. Again I by no means am an expert and would look for any other knowledgable input.

Another "Blue Light Special" Some of the credit has to go to andrew_l_s because I used his plans for the $10 footwell lights. Bought the cup holder lights on eBay for 4 for $3.69 and the racing pedals again on eBay for $35. All done for less than $50.

  6. I'm really eager to get this mod done so this morning I did a dry run (while I was waiting for the parts to arrive) to see how hard it would be for a guy who is 6'3" and 270 lbs. and it really was a snap. A few observations, the lower under dash panels come down easy squeezing the 3 finger tabs at the front of each panel. There is plenty of room to run wires from the vent to both passenger and driver sides. Use a flashlight to find the path. And lastly make sure you snap the white plastic connector cover properly or else you will not be able to set the connector deep enough to make contact with the hazard button to make contact. Looking at the 2016 brochure online and Subaru wants $164 for this option! Thanks again Andrew.
  7. Got my 20mm rsb installed in about 30 minutes. Going out to dinner down I-96 so we will see if that is the answer (I'm sure it is). Now I have to wait for pin striping and a aluminum foot rest. Seems there is always something! P.S. got it from Quirk Parts in about 4 days for $88 and change including shipping. Works, more stable and firm but not harsh.
