  1. I'm using a LG G6 with android 8.0. my car is a 2015.

I didn't used to have to restart my phone daily. It used to just work.

Now restarting my phone does not make it work anyway.

From what I've gathered here it's a problem with android 8.0 and Pandora itself.

Damn shame. That was one of my favorite features about that radio.

Gotcha, can't speak for Android as I'm an iOS user but anytime it refused to work a reboot fixed it. Hopefully the next Pandora update sorts it out for you.

I know what you mean, it's nice to be able to use steering wheel controls to skip and change stations.

In no way should that be necessary. This is 2018, not 1998.

It's even more necessary with the amount of background processes and apps that run with any modern OS. I worked in the phone business for a few years, you wouldn't believe the amount of issues I saw a simple reboot fix.

  2. What phone?

What model year? (2015-17 style or 2018-19 CarPlay/AndroidAuto)

I've been using Pandora with the Starlink head unit and iOS (iPad mini 4 in the Legacy, iPhone 7 in the WRX) for 3+ years now. It's occasionally glitchy, but works 99% of the time.

Restart your phone daily! I turn mine off every night and then plug it in to charge so it powers back on. Same effect as restarting your PC.

Open Pandora before connecting to the car. If this doesn't work, connect first and then open Pandora on your phone. Or connect then use the head unit's Pandora button to launch. If it doesn't work just change to another sequence.

I just upgraded from Pandora Plus to Premium, which lets you download stations and custom playlists. Both show up in the station selection list on the head unit, pretty cool. Lost the unlimited data I had on my iPad so offline mode is a must now.

  3. Legacy is in the hands of the new owner now. It was great for the 3+ years and 39k miles I had it for. Kind of sad to see it go but I know it'll be appreciated by my friend who bought it.

I'll definitely miss the Legacy's smooth ride but the WRX is a blast to drive. With my dad's new FXT we now have 3 FA20DITs in the garage:lol:

I still have some stuff for sale in the classifieds section so check there if you're looking for accessories:p

  4. Good to know! I was considering extended warranty anyway so this is a nice bonus.

I do the same pretty much; planned on keeping the Legacy a bit longer but have a 2018 WRX Limited on order. Maybe I'll come back to the Legacy in the future :)

My dad just picked one up, dealer found one spec'd out perfectly one state over in PA. Lapis Blue 2018 Limited with EyeSight. Man is it quick and fun to drive:wub:http://i.imgur.com/aqoacIC.jpg

  5. I have a spare right side one from the headlight I bought to practice opening. It's painted black but could be sanded off if need be. If you need me to mail it somewhere I'd be happy to.

I would have done this if they were available when I did my retrofit, ended up just painting mine black. I know it's not legal but let's be honest, has anyone ever been bothered for a burnt out sidemarker bulb?:p

  6. I've been running these bulbs for year or so now and have been very happy with them, I have small plastic caps glued over the lights to prevent them from being bumped (especially on the passenger side). This dims them down slightly to the perfect level of brightness.

For those looking for a very subtle light, here is another option. These aren't going to be very bright at all, just add a little ambient light with minimal distraction to the driver. I would get the wider lens option to more evenly distribute light.

  7. Took some output pics the other night. Manually set ISO and shutter speed for an accurate comparison. Hellas were turned off.

  8. Looks really good!

Did you wrap the area around the gear shift too? Any tips on how to do that? Did you disassemble the centre console or wrap it in place?

Yes I did, not too difficult to remove it. Pretty much identical to disassembling our center console area.

Here's my writeup on the Forester forum:

  9. Has anyone installed Subaru Legacy Interior Trim Kit - Piano Black? Looks tempting. I have a premium with the beige interior, not sure if that would work well with this piano black trim.

No doubt it'd look nice, but don't expect it to stay looking nice. My mom's new forester came with it from the factory, only has 500 miles on the clock and it was already scratched and smudged to heck. Wrapped it with some brushed look vinyl because it was so bad, especially around the gear shift.

  10. Attempted my diff fluid change this weekend. The front fill plug stripped on my so I ended up accomplishing nothing.

I can't find a replacement plug on parts.subaru.com if someone knows the p/n or can find one please let me know. I'm hoping to purchase one and let a local shop handle it vs. overpaying the dealership.

Also, the rear diff isn't 8mm. I tried using the 8mm I purchase for the front and it's way too small, my guess is it's 10mm but I'll check for sure before buying the driver.

  11. @GreyGoose, @Tigger73 Thanks for the feedback guys. That was kind of what I figured. Finding used STI BBS in good conditions are tough. $800 sounds more reasonable.

FWIW after finally selling the tires it worked out to be a net of $825 into my WRX 18s and they were the definition of pristine.

Aim for $800-850, but if the lowest he'll go is $900 I wouldn't walk away over 50 bucks. Just get the best price you can:cool:

  12. So I gotta ask, seem like from this article the current models (2017) should receive an update with Android Auto/Apple Carplay.

    http://www.autoblog.com/2017/01/06/subaru-starlink-infotainment-update-2017/

It makes sense that they could if the '17 Impreza has it...

    Thoughts on this actually happening????

"The new Starlink apps are available on 2017 Imprezas as well as 2016 and 2017 BRZ models, and they'll show up on other Subaru models soon."

Soon meaning future years. For the Legacy that's 2018. The new impreza and BRZ have a completely different head units.

Our cars are not getting Apple Carplay or Android Auto. The 2018 has the new head unit from the impreza and therefore will have both.

  13. I have no idea. I was asking about the switch for someone else on the FB page. He was asking about the kit, but I directed him to install some Morimoto fogs and piece together the rest of the kit.

EDIT: Upstater, those morimoto ones don't work with our cars even though they're the "subaru" ones. Our cars need the "Type T" ones. It's funny because in compatible vehicles, it lists a bunch of Toyotas and at the very bottom is our car.

Correct. Or from Diode Dynamics they're Type B lol.

    https://www.diodedynamics.com/store/catalog/product/view/id/22211/s/luxeon-led-fog-lamps-type-b/category/1293/

  14. I wouldn't buy the Subaru fog light kit to begin with, if I didn't have a Limited that came with HID and OEM glass lens fogs, I would get and install these (or at least as a substitute for the Subaru version, buy their harness and switch, and the Morimoto fog lights):

    https://www.theretrofitsource.com/subaru-morimoto-xb-led.html

If you do a low beam HID retrofit, you don't even need fogs, the HID output is up to the task.

Are the fogs in that kit the base version (plastic lens) or the glass lens version?

The glass lens fogs don't even compare to the output of the LED projector replacements. Not to mention the beam pattern is even wider than my RX350 projectors. Like by a lot, so wide in fact that our fog surround trim actually limits it. Great for lighting up ditches and spotting critters at night. The only downside is that the lenses are plastic so Lamin-X or clear bra is a must.

  15. I just want to confirm unplugging disabled the DRL for me too, quick fix and looks so much better without them.

Id like to run the fogs with just the parking LED lights, but not finding an easy way. I found an article previous but it was tapping into some wires, but cant find it now.

On my 2014 Nissan Frontier I was able to use a fuse tap to do it, article here:

    http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f23/fog-light-pass-2991/

Click the link in my signature that says "Fog as DRL" for a solution:cool:

Basically it does what the name implies, makes the fog lights your daytime running lights. So instead of having the high beam run with parking lights, the fogs are on instead.

This pic shows what it looks like:
