  1. My 2015 has less than 50,000 miles on it (retirement x pandemic= low mileage). I took it to the dealer for what was supposed to be the 66 months/66K maintenance, which is next to nothing. Imagine my surprise when I was told that I had a head gasket leak (the good news is that it was only one gasket) "but since we have to take the engine out, we recommend replacing both gaskets and we'll treat you right." Thank goodness I was enough of a sucker to buy the extended warranty.
  2. I'm a few miles up the road in North Potomac. The battery in my son's '16 Crosstrek died late last week and we had AAA replace it. My 2015 Legacy 2.5i Limited with 30K miles died this morning at the Starbucks on Connecticut Ave. Fortunately, I was able to rest it for a while and it started again. I'd be curious to know what the dealer says. Thanks.
  3. Personally, I would do just what I did when it happened to me. Get the thing replaced ASAP--mine was on back order, too and it doesn't matter if you go through a dealer or a glass place; you will have to wait. Meanwhile your crack will grow. You don't want to be unsafe, though. While you are waiting, complain to Subaru of America in Cherry Hill NJ. They were responsive to me when I complained that a dealer working with my glass place ordered the wrong windshield. Where you complain to NTSB or not is up to you. Being silent is not going to speed things up!
  4. Only 1400 miles on my car and about to get my first replacement windshield. Not sure if a pebble on the interstate got me or something spontaneous. Fun fact--my insurance company turfs out glass repairs to a third party; I won't name the company, but let's all sing "S........, repair, S........, replace!" Tell the rep you want OEM glass, not OEO. The response will be, "Okay, glad you asked, because you can have it, but you have it ask, we can't ask you if you want it." So remember--ask!
