One more.. Likely tackling this tomorrow if I have time after doing the timing belt. Did you replace the half moon seals? I don't think they're leaking, should I just leave them alone? Also, how much RTV? Very thin bead?
I'd go with Ultra-gray or the black as mentioned by tris. I used a very thin bead as you will see when you take them off most of the RTV gets squished aside and just a very thin coat is left between the gasket and head surface. You don't want that in your oil. On the half moons I coated the outside joints with a bit of Ultra Grey as well in case it seeped through.

I considered this when I did my build. Doing it again I might lean this direction. Looks like a viable, cost effective alternative to #YNANSB.

Yes, I have the standard ARP head kit. What I need to find are the alignment dowels... First things first though. Install Pistons, Rear main seal and covers, chuck it in the motor stand.... Today.
I tore mine up pretty good getting them out so i had to replace them. You can pick these up at Subaru. Order them online it's cheaper. I picked mine up from the dealer and they were $3.46 a piece.

Yellow would be cool if you're a Packers fan. Bronze would look really cool. What kind of wheel?

Is your shift knob a bong? That thing would look sweet with some gold wheels.

If you watch Subaru Mike's follow up video where he puts the heads on the block, he states in the video that if you are using your USED OEM Subaru head bolts, you DO NOT have to do the first part of the funky tightening procedure, which GREATLY simplifies the procedure. He states that this is because bolts have already been stretched to spec when they were put on the first time.
I just did a 2.5i na motor and put the heads on using the same procedure he does here. It was no more complicated than putting the head studs on the turbo'd motor I did, and I was told by a tech at my local Subaru dealer that head studs have no advantage unless you are building a 300+ HP motor. Had I known all of this when building my OBXT motor, I would have saved the $ and re-used the OEM head bolts.
I believe if not mistaken that ARP advises that you pre-stretch their head studs as well by tightening them to torque, though it is easier than Subaru's stretch procedure.
I added a link to the video where he talks about the head bolts below:
