Someone please help me locate this op connector!!!! I've been back and fourth to the car 10 times now and still can't find it. Does anyone have pics or better directions to find this thing?
-
Will be starting this project this weekend. Looks like fun. I'm sure this thread and OP will be helping me out alot.
-
225 would be just fine, i just 200 for 15-20 minutes
-
when putting it in the oven you could also set it on a towel or hot pad. I've done numerous sets and that's what i always do.

hey jazzy, or anyone else out there. do you know if this will work on the saab 9-2x also known as the saabaru? i friend of mine just picked one up and would like a hard wired input for her satellite radio.
Thanks, Nate

"oh now i get it...french class"

Well, guess what...this mod also works in the WRX 6CD radio. The one marked P-133 on the front, which is a Matsushita model# 86201FE210, Ref.# CQ-EF6360A.
what year was that radio?
Also, I've got a website up and functioningwebsite looks great

and, those two screws holding the bracket of the radio - the deep one that you need a magnetic screw driver, yeah, they've disappeared into the abyss.
you know what i always say, "haste makes waste" glad you got it in, i'm sure those screws will not cause any problems, congradulations on the install

its the best mod i've done to my car. it gets used 100% of the time when i'm driving. thanks again jazzy, anxiously awaiting v2, although i can wait a while, i've been listening to crystal clear, commercial free satellite on every car ride:icon_bigg

Did you just use an RCA-to-mini adapter ala Radio Shack?
yes i did, along with many other adapters, splitters, gender changers, fuse holders, and a gli. since i was also wiring up my sirius radio as well
-
As was mentioned in other posts, I installed this with my jazzy board, and it works great. they also have some other great products.
-
Hey mike, unplug your ipod and see if the sirius volume turns up. I have this problem with mine, so when i'm not using my ipod i just unplug it. As for my setup, i did the same exact thing you did, but instead of mini jack to mini jack, i just used the rca's with a combination of adapters and splitters plus a gli. So far i have no noticable sound degradation and am very pleased with the results.

Lubeman & jsalicru, glad your new installs went well. Sorry for the confusion Lubeman on which side the contacts were facing on the ribbon cable, but it doesn't actually matter. The ribbon only has contacts on one side, but the plugs have contacts on both sides. The only thing you have to make sure of is that one plug lines up with the other plug.
A bit of an update for y'all - I'm almost out of my first batch of boards...time flys when you're having fun eh? 4800 soldered holes later... Anyway, interest is still plenty strong, but I'm nowhere near a "next step" solution, so I'm going to order more of these simple boards to keep up with demand.
Due to the resounding success of this board, I'm also committing now to make every possible effort to develop a next generation. One that is still 100% plug and play, and takes no silent CD...those are the only certainties so far. I'd like to also include:
1) Adjustable autosensing (1s, 5s, 10s or something like that for nav vs. music)
2) Song name display & control of iPods. I'll have to look into compatibility between the mini, nano & standard generations, but this is still a goal.
3) Serial in/out for mp3, dvd, mpeg4 or whatever control + display for the carputer folk (this is dead last on the priority list, but I'd like to use it myself some day)
Ideally, this will all be on a somewhat modular board so that I can get a working aux in first, then add other stuff to it like ipod & carputer compatibility with plug in, or solder on additions without holding up the show for people that just want a simple, clean aux-in and nothing more.
Thoughts, suggestions, comments are welcome... ?

I'd be extremely interested in the ipod controls and the song name display, if you make it i will buy it, guarenteed. I'm sure many others will share the same interest, keep up the good work.

Another extremely satisfied customer over here. The install went smoothly with no problems at all, great instructions. And that navone engineering ipod connector is great, i would recommed that to anyone with an ipod. Now i just gotta figure out how and where i'm going to mount my ipod, any suggestions?
A+++++++ Jazzy

If its anything like a wrx, i believe those extra dangling connectors are for a 'test mode' they need to be plugged together when using the obd II port. I know for the wrx when using an ap to reflash they need to be connected. Maybe someone on here with an AP can chime in.
