Hey guys i have the black sheep 95 obd2 legacy with the dual port heads and just want to confirm that my chambers are the same size as the 96+ single port heads before i go source a 25d shortblock. Dont want to wind up with wild compression from smaller chambers
Thinking i can pull a shortblock and rebuild it before i swap it in since my heads were done 10k ago
-
I would agree, 15s have a very wide range of styles and sizes of off-road tires. Probably the widest range
-
Won't work..... there is not a complete bushing kit for this generation. The is a thread with all the bushings needed to rebuild. Stock ones should be fine if you want to maintain a comfortable ride.
ah thank you! glad someone said it, I can probably piece together a full set of stock type on rockauto if that is the case
-
anyone? I gotta get them changed out asap I am getting new tires next week and I need to get an alignment after, would be a big waste to do bushings after that
-
Anyone know if this will fit my 95 wagon? I want to be sure before I order everything. Same kit from the first page of this thread

Also rockauto.com has really cheap camber bolt kits

Are you planning to finish the 6mt swap section soon?
-
DEAR GOD! you have some terrible luck with drunk drivers. im going to make the wild assumption that the car that smashed your forester didnt just back up and drive off after that hit so at least you have someone to turn over to your insurance on that one.
that is a really bad week for your little fleet you have going
and no offense intended by the troll comment its just hard to believe anyone has that bad of luck
-
NOW!!! Lastnight a drunk driver veered off of the road into my driveway and smashed my 04 FXT in half!
dude you need to get the hell out of where ever you are living
that has to be some bored trolling nobody has that bad of luck
-
dang dude you got off pretty lucky as far as all that goes at least! im not sure what happened to my car before i bought it but i know the front steel wheel was completely smashed in and it bent the crap out of my control arm. im picturing it having a sudden meeting with a curb around 35 or so
you gonna try and make an insurance claim on it or just say screw it and try to fix it on your time
-
well hopefully that stupid sob has good insurance! is there any serious body damage or mostly suspension? that is heartbreaking dude i would be getting my insurance on the hustle to get that taken care of or give me some $$$ so i could do it
i would be amazed if you didnt bend the hell out of a control arm. i had a bent one and only one wheel got trashed and my struts were okay. did you have it insured for the extra value of the aftermarket parts?
-
Yeah, I'm hoping for the handling, comfort mix too.
Where can I find the spacers? Are they made by someone in particular?
subtle is the brand name, google subtle strut spacers I think the 3/8 are somewhere around $25,
-
yep I picked them up and I have them on 3 of my 4 corners now, new wheels on the back as well. just waiting for my dad to stop by with his impact driver to break the lower bolt loose on the front pass side and I will have them on all 4. looking like I may make a set of 3/8" spacers with a misc cutting board I have sitting around, will see how it looks without them first.
other note of this project, I was thinking about the 1/2" drop from the wrx struts/springs, but I have the wrx wheels too and the tires have .7" more diameter so really I will only be .15" lower after the .35" is taken up by the tires
-
Did you read the suspension swap information?
yeah from what i read it said you can use pretty much any 02-07 wrx struts, but i was reading more and someone mentioned you are supposed to use wagon with wagon and sedan with sedan, i just dont want to haul the wrong parts home
-
looking to pick up some 02 wrx sedan struts and 16" wheels tomorrow, just need to make sure they will work on my 95 wagon. from what i read it sounds like it will all work right, i will probably want to get some 3/8" rear spacers but beyond that everything will bolt up and work?

hey guys i need a little clarification on stock swaybars
i have the 95 L wagon with a rear bar oe, looking at the list im seeing the 95-99 ob has a 18mm rear bar which sounds fine for me, and 96-99 2.5 has a 20mm front are we including the lgt's and ob's in the 2.5 category i found a couple ob's in yards nearby and i am making a parts trip later in the week trying to choose what to go for.
I have the option of a LGT or OBS or a few OB's nearby, can anyone confirm which would have the 20mm front bar?
-
pretty good selection of parts on there thanks for the link
-
just rolled over 226k in my wagon
-
will definitely look into it, I love this site I have found more useful info on here than I have just about anywhere else.
-
that has been done, its hollow... be careful tho..
crawled under and in the inside and it looks pretty straight forward and would open my options up a bit, still debating on how I would like to do the suspension when I get around to it.
a Tribeca front and wrx or whiteline rear with wrx struts seems to be pretty common for on road, the car doesn't corner terrible as it is but my acura tl was easier to turn at speed on off ramps etc but it was designed more for that. would like to be able to do the occasional autox but being a subie a bit of gravel road fun is always on the table as well so i don't want to go so stiff that it cant handle some bumpy gravel
trying to find the best mix of performance/cost/comfort

Impreza rear bars don't fit any Legacies
Our Legacies have a little bump that sticks out of the spare tire well and interferes with Impreza rear swaybars. So while a Legacy bar will fit perfectly on an Impreza, things don't work the other way around. This also probably applies to Forester swaybars.any reason that hump cant be cut off flush and a flat piece welded in place allowing a impreza bar to be used? -
haven't taken any pics,
picked up a 93 legacy L auto a few days ago with a cracked radiator tank and after waiting on parts I went ahead and installed a new radiator, alternator, oil and tranny fluid
will post a few pics when I get the chance
