The guy kept driving and I didnt get a tag, It happened so fast I couldnt even tell what kind of truck it was. No body damage. Just the wheels and struts. Even the $1000 tires are still ok! I swapped to some steelies from a first gen forester and swapped back to the OEM struts. Then I had it inspected by a dealership in Columbus,Ga. They said nothing is bent or broken. Going to pick it up Tomorrow. Plan on rebuilding the coilovers again and buying some used wheels then putting my tires back on. Gotta get it back right because it was riding so nicely.

Im running 245/40R18 with no wheel spacers without any scrub. Camber is moderate but definitely not "stanced". Running Triple C Camber bolts in the rears. Front camber plates are set at Zero. Fender is about 3/4 from outer diameter of tire all the way around. OEM sway bars for the moment. But the ride quality is excellent. The dampers' setting are currently set right in the middle between stiff and soft. Will get a pic sometime today.

Havent driven it yet. I guessed at a preliminary coilover length based on the OEM struts minus 2.5" all the way around as a baseline. Then Installed them and the wheels and put it on the ground. Next I measured from top of tire to fender on front and back to see how much lower I wanted it. Took the wheels back off and adjusted height of coilover again. Should be good to go now, but I have to bleed the brakes first. Because in order to remove the OEM struts all brake lines had to be disconnected and routed through a hole in hte backet on the strut. Should be back rolling tonight hopefully.

Just installed a set of Megan Racing "Street" coilovers designed for 03-08 Foresters onto my 97 Legacy Outback Limited. Everything fits right up. (except brake line mounting which was already known, but zipties will fix that). The only downside is that the front camber plates do not align horizontally. I tried rotating it in the three different position and just used the closest one to horizontal.

I was informed at some point in time that the diameter of the springs were different and/or the very end of the spring on the topside was located at a different orientation along the circumference. Thanks for you input, I will try to measure and compare everything today for peace of mind since Im putting the car on jackstands today to install short shifter, bushings and TiC Linkage update, as well as new tranny mount and cross member bushings.

I have KYB GR2/Excel-g for a WRX and 04 STI springs. This setup was previously used on my 04 Forester XT with my stock XT tophats. I converted my FXT back to stock which included using its tophats. I would like to install these on my 97 Legacy Outback But Im pretty sure the stock outback tophats will Not work? (Im pretty sure?) So I am in search of any tophats that will work (WRX or Forester will both work I assume, or maybe even newer legacys?). If anyone ready this has any for sale, please PM me

I recently acquired a set of Megan Street Coilovers, that were for an 03-07 Forester. I know they will fit the knuckes, but will the tops of them work on the body? I am fairly sure that the front will, it is the rear that I question. It is just a large round plate with a small flat on one side. It also does not have the rubber boot at the very top (megan Street coilovers for WRX 02-07 do have the rubber boots at top for reference). Again I am wanting to put (Megan Street coilovers for an 03-07 forester) onto a '97 Legacy Outback.

Maybe since mine are WRX struts, they wont be too low for my liking. I am putting 245 wide tires on so I may have to borrow a friends fender roller anyway. On another forum someone pointed out to me that the 02-03 STI and 04-07 STI struts are different.I looked at some pics and the rear struts on the 04-07 have the mounting for the top of sthe spring offset from the center of the strut shaft. Will they both work on our cars? If they both fit, is one better than the other geometrically speakeing for our cars?
