  2. Im having an AWFUL experience with Subaru of Gwinnett. I will start by saying that I have spent about $10,000 in service with them over the years.

Late last year, I had them replace an engine in my Legacy GT. While doing that, they did take note that the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate were bad but declined to inform me even after I had been in correspondence with them thru email about the repair. I specifically asked if there were any issues with the car. Mind you, during this process, I had spoken to several service advisors including the service manager and not one made it known to me that a clutch was needed.

At the time of pickup, I get my car and paperwork and leave, happy that my car is back on the road. Two months later, the car won't move. I have it towed back for diagnosis and they tell me a $5,000 transmission is needed because the worn clutch damaged it. I ask them, why didn't you tell me the clutch was bad before it damaged the transmission?? Their response was "it was on the second page of the receipt in between the itemization of things we fixed". It also said I had declined the preventative clutch job even though I was not made aware that it was an issue.

So now I have a $5000 issue when it would have been a $900 issue if they hadn't lied to me about the status of the car in the first place, then lied about me declining the clutch repair.

Crap Service to say the least.

  3. Well unlocking more hp can be done multiple ways so that's up to you. From the suspension side of the house.. Suspension mods are a massive upgrade for our cars: steering rack, sway bars and bushings, strut tower bar, LCA bushings (a bit more intensive)[/quote

Ok thank you. LCA bushings are intensive? That sucks. Im coming from a 1995 BMW 540i and upgraded control arms and bushing were sooooo easy to come by and and install. We will see. I am a video freelancer and it is kinda slow right now so my main goal is to get it running right again.

  4. Yeah that's pretty standard for a dealer. SoG does good work, obviously I'm partial to my team at SoK but can't go wrong with those guys. That being said, what are your inevitable goals for the car? From there I can give better recommendations.

My goal is to put down about 50 more ponies, and to extend the powerband so it doesnt run out of steam on the top end like it does now. It has to be very reliable and safe since I haul kids in it and its my only car. I am also interested in eliminating some roll in the turns without making it a slot car

  5. Thanks benfrancis. I don't have any parts yet and they stated I couldn't get a bigger turbo even if I paid the difference because invoice has to reflect the OEM turbo to be paid by warranty company (at least thats what they told me lol).
  6. Where are you getting it done? From a labor standpoint it wouldn't be too intensive if the block is out of it. I'd def do the up/down pipe while you're there.

Any other service/upgrade recommendations while they are in there?

Getting er done at SOG. It turns out they are quite amazing. Another shop had misdiagnosed my CEL and misfires as needing a valve job. For some reason I decided to take it up to SOG to see what they said. They found misfires on all cylinders plus VTT codes. From that point they found chunks of metal in the oil pan and on top of the oil filter. Recommended a short block replacement. After much consternation I remembered the 3 month, 3k mile warranty that the car was under. Service adviser Shuan, handled the warranty company, put me in a loaner and sent me on my way. The best experience I have ever had at a dealer. I am really impressed with SOG and Hendrick Automotive Group for standing by the vehicles they sell.

  8. So my car is getting a new short block and turbo covered under warranty. My question is this: since the engine will be out it, labor should be "pennies" to throw in an up/down pipe right or does it really matter?
  9. Yes Six Star is an independent here in Decatur. It seems they are a good shop for keeping a solid running car. I supposed the SoccerMom clientele around here doesn't support a lot of tuning so they don't really go too far beyond a DP/UP. My LGT has over 100k miles and I need it to get up and get me there every morning, so I am not trying to go crazy with mods.

benfrancis, I need to look into the stop tech kit. Please let me know how it works for you.

  10. Whats happening Subbie Family!

Just scooped up a 2005 GT with 116k. I am really enjoying it. Coming out of a 1995 BMW 540i6 with almost 300k.

The local yokels at Six Star Service seem to have handle on all the Decatur Subaru repairs and I will be working with them to keep my new prize in top condition. I want to tastefully upgrade the power, brakes and suspension in a way becoming of a 45 year old man. The ride height is fine for me, I just want it tighter and faster with the ability to stop shorter without spending a goldmine. I already dropped 8300 of my hard won dollars for the car….
