  1. I don't think the tool pictured is for getting the bearing out of the hub. That look likes it would work for getting the axle out of the bearing.

From my knowledge these are just hub/bearing assemblies. Why are you trying to just change bearings?

You originally stated that you couldnt get the hub off.... I'd have used that first, then when broken free that way, I would have used a mini sludge on the back side of the hub and beat it on both sides to go back and forth till it broke free from the knuckle. (is what I did.)

  2. Axle. I used a subaru hub/ bearing. Ended up needing to get a new dust sheild and steering knuckle also because the old hub was totally frozen in the knuckle. No amount of hammering, penetrating oil, or torch heat was budging it.

Yeah I had a hell of a time removing the bearing hub off the knuckle. Hammered the shit out of it, oiled etc...

What ended up working was using a long extension pressed up on the back of the hub, turn the steering wheel so the extension sat on a solid part of the car, turn the steering wheel AND pry the hell out of it at the same time. Canadian winter driven car and it finally gave way using that method. Was a PITA.

I attempted to do it the same way with a hammer and all. Then realize I lived in a salt filled area and nothing comes off without a certain tool for it.

Not sure if you guys tried this at all but this is actually what you should have used.

It scared me since it went pretty far into the axle, but finally broke it free. The new one slid on extremely easy.

  3. I'd love to buy a new full suspension bike but definitely dont have the $1500 minimum to get a new one. I say that price for a decent product. I know I can find stuff used for probably $800 but I have too many hobbies with 2 cars and needing to save for a damn house. lol

Recently my money has been going towards gas and white water kayaking. That has been a blast.

  4. So no mountains in Ellicottville, NY but we still have hills. This is just a quick edit of the 2 mile downhill we have. Cross X trail so everything going down you had to go up as well. This was the last of our ride so we were pretty beat up and tired. Still a fun time blasting down the run with a hard tail.

  5. Are you 'afraid' of ticks in your area? Currently living in MD and will be hitting the trails soon for the first time.. I hate ticks

We haven't had any issues riding back in this area. It actually dries out pretty quickly here too. I however cant stand ticks and wouldn't be happy with them being on trails. We stay away from one park because of that.

  6. Light blue 4th gen lowered, black dipped rims, yellow calipers. You were parked in your driveway. You live in Tonawanda about a block away from my sisters house that my wife and I have dinner at about once a week. I'll start only driving my car from now on to see if I can catch you outside sometime.

Not mine but didnt know a fellow Buffalonian was on this thread.

I'm in the Akron, NY area. I out that way and in Cheektowaga on a regular.

  7. Oh hey, forgot to check this because No one ever posts for Buffalo on this one. That was me. You Buffalo area guys, I've only lived here for 6+ months and work on Walden. Let me know after the snow melts if there are any meets in our area.

I know buffaloscooby does a meet every year driving seasonal roads, I'm hoping to attend that one this year.

  8. Buffalo area (Cheektowaga) Saw a azurite blue 2010+ LGT with mudflaps making a right onto Walden Ave from Dick Rd

Not me but I'm always around Harlem and Cleveland Dr area. And you may see a friend messing around in an orange FR-S

I'll have a silver 05 with red RB flaps in a day or two.
