  1. Am I a bad person for resurrecting this thread? I dunno if people are still looking for H&R pics, but here is my 05 wagon on Koni shocks, Subaru OEM top hats, and H&R springs with a 3/8 saggy butt spacer. Tires are 215/45R17 (stock size).

You have great timing! I'm torn between H&R and Swift.

How's the ride quality compared to stock? Do you know the height of your wheel wells or how much it dropped your car?

Any additional info would be appreciated

  2. I used 07 wrx rails and FPR, with rubber fuel hose bridging the rails. I have a shot of it in post 2 here:

    https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/build-thread-time-280134.html

If I had to do it again, I'd use 08-14 WRX/STI, or 07-09 LGT rails/FPR. Reasons being, FPR sits on the driver side of the engine, and the line ends should actually bolt up to stock manifold points.

I used IAG TGV deletes because my schedule got accelerated, but any factory top feed TGVs will work. If you're interested, I have mostly complete top feed deletes from an 06 WRX. Just need the gasket surfaces sanded.

Is your setup in parallel or series? Do you have an studder/sumble in the 2-3k range?

  3. Are the LM’s supposed to hold up better on pavement as compared to the WS?

Yes, I ran those the past few seasons and they feel pretty close to all season tires. However, I wasn't impressed with their braking and steering control in true snow conditions.

I previously had WS80s on my sentrs SE-R spec-v and loved them so I just picked up some WS90s for the legacy. They are supposed to have some stiffer tread blocks over the WS80, making them last an extra season. I opted to go with 205/50R17. It will be a bit narrower which is supposed to be better for snow and a bit taller for added cushion/protection. We'll see how it goes....

  4. ^^^Just how reasonable? If 29" is what you're after, sure. I think you'll like it, though its pedaling platform may feel a bit active. No less efficient, but different. Either way it'll be faster for sure.

Make sure you inspect the seat tube/top tube juncture. They didn't hold up so well.

    There is a 3rd option:)

Ride the old bike for another season or two and pick up something newer. The jump from '06-'11 was huge. From '11 to now? Arguably more so. Essentially, you can get (near) xc efficiency with all-mountain fun, and you needn't break the bank.

I just went from 2010 enduro to 2015 trance sx (27.5). What a difference! I lost 20mm of travel in the rear but you would never know it. Maestro suspension is completely different than specialized fsr, very supple and better pedaling platform.

I also would wait one more year, if possible. Try to get something 2014 or newer. And if you're looking to go 29er, im not sure giant is the way to go. The majority of their recent focus has been on 27.5 and I've read their first try at 29ers did not have the best feeling, geometry wise. Also the direct to consumer market is growing and offering some incredible value...

  5. Wheel brand/model: OZ Superturismo LM

    Wheel height/width: 18x8

    Wheel offset: +48

    Tire size: 225/40/18 Pirelli

Camber F/R: approx 0 all around. toe 0*

    Lowered: Stock Height

    Modified Fenders: Nope

Wheels/Tires are just about flush with rear fenders. They stick out a touch in the front of the front fender. Couldn't be happier with the setup.

  6. I have a hitch style rack (North Shore Rack) for my big bike, I prefer a roof rack for something that just stays on all the time. what is it about the hitch style that made you happier?

Easier loading/unloading. The rack I use only touches the tires (1UP USA). if you have a muddy ride, the roof of your car stays clean. Better gas mileage on longer trips and reduce wind noise.

  7. Do you guys have any recommendations on a roof bike rack that holds the bike securely / still allows the rear hatch to be opened?

I had the Yakima High roller, but it didn't allow me to open the rear hatch and it broke on me.

I have a Rocky mount with an adapter for the 15mm thruaxle and it's terrible and I hate it and looking to get something else.

Are you opposed to going with a hitch style rack? I've made the switch and couldnt be happier

  8. ^^^Sweet. I'd like to hear more as you get more time on it. The Trance Advanced is on my short list.

Those enduros did have awesomely tight chainstays, eh?

Yeah, one of the benefits of FSR and 26" wheels.

Giant sizing is a little bigger than other companies. At 5'9" I could have gone with either a small or medium. I opted for the medium and just recently put on a 35mm (stock length is 60mm) Easton Havoc stem. The new stem made a huge improvement.

  9. I have 5 rides on this and it's awesome. The part spec is pretty fantastic at its price point. I'm cleaning things much easier than on my old bike. Coming from a 2010 enduro and im still getting used to the bigger wheels and longer chainstay, though.
