So what's up? Is this forum dead? Seems a little quieter than it was 15 years ago.:lol::lol::lol:
I miss my Legacy GT sometimes...
-
So, I converted my first BRZ today! Sounds GREAT!! Surprisingly, quite a bit better than a NA 2.5 Legacy.
They did 3 thin washers, and it's smooth at idle and cruise, and roars at high RPM's!
The lucky owner is very happy I am also very happy as I got to take it for a short spin.
I wish I could afford one.
Maybe I could afford my 2006 Legacy now...
lemme check. hang on...
nope.
-
OK fine.
So I failed out of engineering school.
Marketing.
-
Why hasn't Subaru contacted me to come work as a design engineer for them?
What's taking so long?
-
I don't drive my subie anymore - but on my Miata...I tried to do a hogzaust-type mod...and yup. It sounded like crap.
So, I dropped $650 on a full CBE...and coming from the cheapest man on earth...it was money well spent. You just have to listen, and see what you like. As far as the HZ on my 2.5T - I'd have kept that no matter what it cost. It just sounded great to me!

haha alright good to know. Tried to use a magnet, but couldnt get it far enough in the pipe to attract the washer.
I'll try blasting it out, thanks Hogmeat! I'm enjoyin the rumbles despite the rattle from the washer haha.
Boulder, CO eh? Want to say thanks for the free rumbles?
I'm coming to visit Longmont for a week in October. Kinda scoping the area out for a potential move in the future (my employer has a branch there). Want to show me around?
-
actually, just turn the car on with the muffler out of the way. It'll shoot right out.
Ask me how I know. lol.
-
1 side effect: a big smile.
Spread the word, if you don't find it...also recall I did this almost 7 (OMG!) years ago.
Where does the time go? HOLY CRAP.
-
Just checking up for the first time in 3 months, and wanted to chime in and say that I ran with Muffler Deletes for about 1 week. Hope you don't mind a headache after you get out of the car...
For me, at least, they were WAY too loud, at all throttle levels. They just never quieted down, relentless. Headache.
Skip Them, you'll thank me.

Welcome to the cool kids club!
-
Nice crackle and pop when it hits the top of the RPM's.
I'm behind the times (since I'm poor) - are the LGT's now 2.0L?
-
someone needs to thank me for this useful post.
-
Hey, have you all typed in "Hogzaust" on Youtube? It's awesome.
Really. The internets is a great place.
-
ya'll make me smile.
Guess what? I might be back in a Subaru soon...
-
Lucky Lucky man.
My wife approved (kinda) of my Miata's headerback exhaust...but even then, just barely.
...and don't even get me started on trying to get her to drive a stick shift!
-
That's teh beauty of it all!! Great for flip floppers!
-
Yes! That's what I'm talking about. Just enjoy the noise.
Be glad you don't have to pay HUNDREDS to get good sound in your LGT, like I do in my Miata. I try the 'zaust - but notsomuch. Sounded pretty bumblebee like. Yuk.
-
oh man, 16 and a Legacy GT? You are going to wreck it!
Anyways, i'm just jealous. I had to sell mine for $$ and real life.
-
You are welcome, and yes, of course, it's OK. You are just makin' a gap!
-
agreed. a teeny exhaust opening like this would do nothing.
-
Man, this gun knows what he is talking about. Search my name and uppipe, you'll see the saga...
-
search the forum, I think there is. But really, if you can take the DP off, the cats are just a hammer and chisel away. They just fall out. So easy.
-
If you are hogsausted now and want to make it sound even better, get an aftermarket downpipe. mine is catted but still gives an even better boxer rumble now. plus it will give these awesome little pop sounds while shifting at WOT. makes me cream my pants every time
Let me tell you, this man knows. The stock DP w/cat really quiets things down. I removed all 3 cats from my car - and the pops and snaps were wicked.
Loved it. I can't believe it's been 3 years since I sold my Legacy. Even my mom has a Legacy...and I don't. I should try to pick up a cheap one. I need a hobby...

Not how I'd have worded it, but yeah, sure.
