Yeah ours was built in '86 just had carpet and linoleum directly on the concrete slab that we've since replaced with wood laminate.

It's 3 bedroom and the bath with tub is in the hallway that joins the 2 secondary bathrooms. The tub/shower decision is for the master which is attached to master bedroom. It's still a small 1980s bathroom so have to be space efficient. Cost wise, just throwing a new fitter with tub in there is probably cheapest. If we do shower it would be a pre-made pan then some fancy tilework for walls.

So 2 bathroom ranch house you want to put on the market. One bathroom remodeled keeping the existing bath tub. Second one demo'd completely. Do you put a second tub in or a tiled shower? Maybe a fitter with an integrated seat? Figure that might lure in some older buyers while still having the tub in the other bathroom.

Yeah, messing with gas and our county requires a permit for a water heater even if it's a replacement. I'm just paying to have that installed.

Yeah, further your head is from the headrest the more prone to whiplash you would be. But at 6'7 with a large amount of my height coming from my legs that's just the only position that works for me.

Also it is amazing how many people want 1980s bathroom cabinetry if you put it up on craigslist/freecycle.

Are you guy actually sitting with your back against the seat and head by the headrest? I tend to sit more straight up and only my lower back actually contacts the seat back.

I came from a 2010 GTI with leather seats that fit me like a glove(6'7 and 210lbs). The first week or two I thought I had made a mistake as I was getting some back pain on my 55 mile one way commute. But I finally found a position that works for me and have no more complaints.

Definitely jealous of my in-laws place in the country for that. Got some junk laying around? Burn it.

$160 for the pickup of that bagster? Wow I thought it was just cost of the bag then they would do a free pickup.

 

$160 buys a lot of hillbilly with a truck labor on CL to haul stuff away.

 

And yeah definitely post stuff that's still usable on CL/Freecycle. Get rid of most big things that way.

 

Edit: Rereading sounds like your city does garbage collection so I guess WM would be coming in for you without being your regular provider which makes the charge make more sense.

Call your trash collector about their bulk pickup options. Waste Management has that bagster thing which holds quite a bit. Ours allows 2 bulk pick up days per billing cycle, just have to call ahead and schedule. Or if a really big project, rent a dumpster.

Yeah, think the thread title needs an update. Clearing up all the oil info sounds like it should be one post and done...24 pages later.

I worked 3rd shift at wal-mart back in my college days. Saw crossdressers shopping for purses and such on occasion. Nothing as bad as these examples though. What's happened to society in the last 15 years?
