  1. I gotcha gotta do what you gotta do for sure. The goobers that worked this car before wired things up out of laziness it seems. Yesterday I fixed the radiator fan wiring to remove the toggle switch they installed. Went to lkq and poached the wiring harnesses from the fans in a 99 outback, luckily they use the same connector. The driver side male end was gone and replaced with what looked like a trailer light harness going to nothing. They left the passenger side intact so I could match it up. With a lot of starter spray she cranked and I let it run long enough to hit temp and I started jumping for joy when the fans came on by themselves. Next is the ignition switch, there's an interesting splice on what I think is the crank position sensor, probably from just cutting the wiring for the old one while swapping motors, so I'm wondering a)did they splice the sensor back together wrong b) is the sensor bad c) bad ignition switch. This should be the last of the jank wiring that I can see and after that I can actually starting cleaning, tuning up and make her road worthy.
  2. Hey so last night I disconnected the green connector and replaced the fuel pump. I turned the key on and the fuel pump only primed once and no crazy relay clicking everywhere. Now its the weekend I'm gonna buy a battery for it since I drained my other cars battery trying to get it to start. I still have to fix radiator fan wiring and the ignition switch to get them off toggle switches, but this is certainly a win. Thanks a lot!
  3. You know I was just reading about that connector on another forum. Mine has one and it is plugged in, I'm gonna disconnect it tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the reply!
  4. So a have a 93 postal model I've been tinkering with lately, the previous owner delivered mail in it of course and blew the original motor. Her husband knowing nothing about subarus swapped in another motor and also added some kind of cruise control unit. Currently the starter and radiator fans are straight wired to switches... also the fuel pump primes off and on constantly as well as many relays clicking under the dash, in the engine bay fuse box and I think the transmission too. I did get the car to crank up and run after sitting for a few years but the fuel pump dies (been through two so far). I've had the car for a while but I decided to really put forth an effort to give her a new life. I've searched high and low online for answers and its been hard with so many different symptoms. I've added a ground wire kit to make sure the grounds are good. I removed the cruise control that was added. It was tapped onto one of the ecu harness wires and the brake light sensor. When I have daylight again I'm going to try to track down which relays are clicking and start again. I just finished tonight still feeling discouraged and wanted to come on here to ask for any help.
