Might be a loose heat shield, a common noise maker in that area and at odd RPMs.

Yeah, a comment made solely out of jealousy, my friend.

My Subie is largely a garage queen now.

Just a suggestion ... from a parent of an Aspberger's boy (autistic) ... if any of you have child development questions, do not rely on your pediatrician. You need to find and get to a Developmental Pediatrician. Hard to find, but well worth the effort.

US - holy crap, that looks like a dump truck dropped gravel on your Subie!
A minor and brief early spring hail storm here prompted me to finally move out the remaining stuff on my side of the garage and get my Subie inside. Glad I did ... a month later, quarter size hail storm showed up.

How do H&R springs compare to the Tein H-techs?

Hold onto the Coolant Conditioner bottle just in case you need a new head gasket ... lol

Holy crap that engine is clean.

US - you'll appreciate all the hard work done in the prep phase after it's painted. Take your time and it'll look phenomenal.

Probably your springs and/or struts if it is noticeable when going over bumps.

Nice looking ride, very nice wheels.

Very nice, Sean ... Looking great!

The thought of drilling holes in the lift gate keeps me from acting on it ... the idea of taking a drill bit to a pristine paint job gives me pause.

Every time I look at this thread, it makes me want a rear spoiler and fog lamps. Sigh.

I agree ... very nice work on both!

New rims, new tires, new 'legacy' step pad on rear bumper. Needs a bath.

My nephew got a new car on his 16th bday, but he was a competitive swimmer and was at the pool by 5 am. His parents decided sleep was more precious than money. They got him a new car becz they wanted something to last through college. He's swimming at Louisville now and only pays $5000/yr for tution as an out of state student. I think the parents got their money back.
Me? I think it's a right of passage that a kid should drive something at least 10 yrs old for their first car, especially as cars last a lot longer today than they did when I was 16 (back in the 70s). I knew too many privileged brats in high school, and I think the fact that they were given something as expensive as a car without having to earn it did nothing good for them. I can see the exception such as my nephew (but I still would've just bought him a newer used car) where the kid doesn't have the time to work for money, but it is an exception.
I totally agree. My first car was 10 yrs old and it took me a month under the hood to get it running and reliable. Learned a lot about cars and didn't take that car for granted.
Now my son is 16 and will be driving my Subie ... I'm a nervous wreck (love that car). He's a great kid and very responsible ... but he's 16 ...

I'd be interested in your build thread if you decide to do one. Good luck!
