Little more info on the Belkin Auto Kit
The sound cuts appear to be clipping due to heating issues. If your car is warmer than usual, the amp in the kit will clip at a volume where it normally would not...
Ted
You are correct the belkin unit heats up and shuts down but with a little work you can stop it.
I was sick of the cutting out so I took the Belkin apart (old/bad habbit) I found that a diode (i think that what it is) gets extremly hot within a few minutes of use.
After a trip to Mar-Vac Electronics to see would could be done I found a fan/heatsink system that apeared to be small enough for what I needed.
I carefully cut away the white plastic Belkin case to fit the new attachment then used heatsink glue to stick the diode to the heatsink and JB to glue the rest of the heatsink to the white case. wired in the fan to the Belkin and waited fot the glue to dry.
Has not cut out once since then and I now keep the Belkin volume at 10.

...this topic is HUGE!!!
SOmeone have probably asked this question, but I am going to ask it anyway 'cause I don't have time to read 60~some odd pages of replies.
If I were to install this product...does it mean that everything I plug into the Mini Plug AUX IN...i.e. Laptop, XM, Navi... (including my OEM in-dash CD Changer) will be automatically EQ adjusted through my Clean Sweep and out to my amps-speakers-subs???
The reason why I am asking is...Clean Sweep does have an AUX IN, but it bypasses through the EQ...so it would sound stockish!!!
Thanks,
CRAZY KEN
Sure crazy,
you can plug in anything you want and if you split it correctly you could have them all play at the same time. For example you could listen to the radio or a CD while your Nav is giving you directions.

I like to play Beastie Boys on the cd player, Mozart on the iPod, and then tune into a country western station on the Sirius. They mix very and its relaxing.

I cant help but notice that Jazzy is dancing around the "whats instore for the future" question.
Come on spill it!
I think that not only is Jazzy an electronic wiz but hes also a marketing genius!
Thanks again for all your hard work.

String Fellow,
The sound quality from the Jazzy Board is as close to CD quality as you can get and the fm modulator quality is as close to a pair of tin cans as you can get. I run an Ipod & Sirius system and I feel that the Jazzy Board is the best mod under $100.

Why does the headphone output on the Ipod only work well with headphones? I was against the whole Belkin cord fix (didn't want to spend the extra $50) but after the third time having the batt. run out on my Ipod I pulled of the freeway and bought one. The sound quality though the Belkin is awesome and no more low volume issues. It may be a little pricey but I must say it is well worth it.
Once again thanks to Jazzy for making this so easy and affordable for all us Subaru Wankas.

I had a problem with my Sirius humming at first, but I found that when the Sirius box is grounded to the chassis and not to a random ground wire this problem can be solved without a GLI installed. The Sirius system that I am using mounts a larger box in the trunk and a smaller display unit in car so I had a lot of grounding options (unused taps under rear seat).

I recieved mine today in the mail at 4:30 and was cleaning up the garage by 7:00. I love it, I cant wait til the next good long trip.
thanks again.

I didn't mean that everyone will have this problem, I simply meant it as a starting point for his problems. Not everyone is using the same wires and some may be sheilded better then others, just because your system is working fine doesn't mean that someone else might have this problem.

I ran a single 6' cable from the back of the HU, down the under the ashtray, along the shift selector and under the center box. I drilled a hole in the storage compartment, cut a small hole in the mat and ran the cord up that way. I also zip-tied the cable along the power cable that runs under the center box.
Ken
I wonder if everyone with a ground loop problem is running their audio signal wires next to power wires? That would explain a lot of humming or/and engine noise coming though the speakers. If signal and power wires have to intersect, it must be at a 90 degree angle. Never run the two types of wires in parallel.
