  1. The dealer told me I had installed the seal fine, flush with transmission. They thought the leak was definitely the result of defect on the reman axle. If you do get an autozone 7336 it may work fine, but I know I got 2 that must have been part of the defective reman group. I'm not sure how many axles had the defect, just be prepared to do some returns if you notice it leaking.
  2. Well I took my car to the dealer, they felt it was the remanufactured axles that were the problem. They said a while back their own remans actually had a problem where when refurbished the part where the seal rides had a very slight spiral cut or pattern. Basically this worked fine on the drivers side as the natural tendency was to pull the oil back towards the transmission. But on the passenger side that spiral tended to push oil out of the seal. So it would only leak while driving, when stationary there was no problem.

I thought I read somewhere that the Autozone 7336 were remanufactured by the same place that Subaru had their axles remanufactured so if true that would make sense on the problem. So, all I can say is those of you buying Autozone 7336 axles be careful. Both axles I got from Autozone recently had that spiral cut problem and leaked.

  3. Well the seal is still leaking, looks like I may just have to go to the dealer.

It only leaks after I've driven it around, won't leak just sitting in the garage overnight. I'm frustrated to say the least. I've now installed it with a new seal (verified it was Passenger side part# 806735230) and a reman axle from autozone part 7336. It leaked so I exchanged it for another 7336 at autozone in case something was bad with the first axle, and I bought another axle seal from subaru. I went to a hardware store and bought a short pvc adapter that just fit over the outer edge of the seal and used that to install it into the transmission so the seal edge, the hard outer part, is flush with the transmission face. I used some transmission oil to lube the axle as I carefully installed it into the transmission, so I really do not think the seal was damaged at all. All I can really think is that these autozone 7336 axles that were recommended in this thread are not so great anymore. Maybe however they remanufacture them now takes too much material off where the seal meets the axle?

Anyone have a stock subaru axle laying around and could measure the diameter on the axle where the seal sits? I returned my stock axle to autozone a while back for the core refund.

  4. Ok, what is the trick to installing a new oil seal? First time around I installed the new axle and left the old seal in as I felt it and didn't notice any tears or anything, seemed fine. I noticed a slow leak from that spot later though. So I took it back apart and put in the new seal I had bought before. I thought I had it in just fine but its still leaking from that same spot. I got under there and verified the oil is not coming from anywhere else. What is the best way to install the new oil seal? How far should it be pushed in?
  5. Yes, 15% is the max the ecu can account for. Your -14.7 means your're running rich in that area though, the car is pulling fuel. Odd that A,B, and D seem OK but C is out of whack. Probably need to rescale your MAF for that area.
  6. Dang it, I would love to finally go on a local Subie cruze. Especially to Duluth as that is a great city.

Oct 10-11th is pheasant opener though, I don't think my yellow lab would ever forgive me if I didn't take her hunting that weekend.

  7. I'd be down for a meet, haven't done one in really long time. And it sounds like there are finally some other wagon people.

Anybody interested in going to Brainerd drag strip sometime? I've always thought about going but just haven't yet, really want to see what the grocery getter can do, especially after I get my 18g installed.

  8. Damn thats clean as hell.

If I ever get around to doing HID's, which wont be anytime soon. I'd like to do my housings like that. I'm no good at oven work though.

HIDs were easy, and I do recommend doing them. Clearing the headlights also wasn't too bad. I ran the headlights just clear for a while, then decided to black them out. That was a bitch, when I masked off the chrome around the blinker and the ring around the projector, the masking tape peeled the chrome off in spots so it looked like crap. So, after spending all day sanding the entire light assembly, painting part a bright silver and the rest black they finally look good.

  9. To the black jeep SRT8 at the Rogers theater, sorry forgot to include my forum name when I replied back. Just in case you're searching, I had the regal blue wagon. Nice GC SRT8 by the way, I've always liked how those look, and no front plate on the front makes them very clean.

  10. Tint would make that harder, How ever with it being the wifes car, I dont get to Auto Cross it. But the Trade off is i have my jeep to play in the mud with, and my mustang to go fast in. I have a great wife.

What kind of mustang do you have? I used to have an '02 GT with intake/exhaust/basic mods. Right now my stage2 LGT Wagon would smoke my old mustang in a straight line or handling.

  11. Tint makes it harder to see the apexes (And I don't need to make it harder on me ;))

(Or the corner workers you're sliding towards)

Oh we always have our front windows down when we autox anyway. Tint does look really good on the wagons.

I'm very close to getting a different turbo (vf52 or pdx) so I probably won't be in ESP this year, not sure what class I would be in actually. I wonder if Todd ever bought an S2000, if so you might be the only one left in ESP:(

  12. Anyone know if they are going to be holding another tuning session over at RS motors? Ive got a new setup that we will be installing next weekend.

I think Ron just had a baby so he may be out just a little. Probably just email or pm over on the mnsubaru boards, I don't think there are any group tune days or anything. I might have Ron tune via AP or opensource when I decide which turbo I'm going to get later this spring.

What setup are you going with?

  13. Hi, anyone have a recommendation of a good place to get a windsheild replaced? Stupid semi threw a large rock at me last night and cracked the glass. I do have comprehensive so I will go through insurance, I just want a decent place that won't screw up the install and make sure the wiper heaters still work.
  14. I'm more scared of what happens when you do this equation: 18% Tint + Stage 2 (with Magnaflow CBE) + Minnesota State Patrol. Two hours on the road is a long time, and leaves me with a good chance of encountering the state patrol at several points on my way.

See, you really should have got the wagon. I have 20%, stg2 with x02 CBE. I have been at stoplights several times with cops right next to me, they look over and then look back at the road. They don't give the wagon a second thought, I bet if I had a sedan though I would see flashy lights.

  15. Yeah, some of you sedans should show up to the autox's. Or maybe they are afraid of the wagons better weight distribution and don't want to get beat;). I am going to the next Amery airport speed run, anyone else going to that? Should be fun to see how fast stg2 is without fear of tickets.
  16. Where are you normally driving? I saw a black wagon in maple grove about 2 months ago, I wasn't in my car though. We have to do another meet now that the weather is getting nicer. I just got my new wheels on and ordered coilovers, can't wait for the first autox.

Oh, as far as shops go I'm not sure, maybe someone else knows. I usually just do everything myself, lines pads and fluid would be pretty easy actually. You just need a bleeder kit or a second person to help you.

  17. I'm not ready for a protune yet, I'm just basic stg2 right now. But I just ordered a perrin TMIC and am looking at turbo options down the road, VF40-18g maybe or see what happens with the 2008 WRX, hopefully their aftermarket turbos will fit us.

Where is your shop at bikerboy and how often do you organize tunes?

  18. I rarely ever see another GT wagon. I've seen one silver one in the last 3 months.

I think I pay like $270 every 6 months for the wagon, I'm 26 though. Wait till you hit 25, the rates really drop. I used to have a '02 mustang GT, I paid more for that in 6 months than I pay for both my wife and I in a year now!.

  19. You can contact me and I will get you taken care of. I do a number of dyno days with Jorge and I can take care of your installs for you as well. Drop me a PM.

Bikerboy can you protune for the cobb AP? Are there any good tuners around MN that use cobb AP?

kienai, I drive my GT around every day. Last week I saw an '08 spec B, tried to get the guy to look over but he seemed clueless. Seems like most people with sedans are oblivious to the fact LGT came in wagon form also.
