sorry if this has been covered, read through the first 8 pages and decided to post. Freshley moved to Boulder...Just had my leggy in to Flatirons Subaru, They quoted me $1,215 for a leak from the power steering rack leaking from the valve under universal joint and onto cross member. rack and pinion must be replaced due to high mileage (117k)
Also oil pan gasket seeping quoted $482
I've sworn I wouldn't throw another 1000 at this car, but at this point I own her SO HARD that im definitely looking to weight my options here. Any specific recommendations? This thread is great, thanks guys!

is the click coming from the shifter? i can't remember if it's audible on this car, but my old nissan had a very audible shifter-lock click when speeding up from a stop and slowing down. locked it out of going into reverse or park at speed.
I'm entirely familiar with this click, in fact hadn't noticed it until a couple consecutive clean bills of health from the dealership (needless to say with the dang ol lgt I'm always looking for the next issue) I definitely spent a few more trips having them look into what it could be. They even diagnosed a worn shifter cable, which I replaced. Click is still there. Bugs t he shit out of me

Masking tape. It is dipped and I just took my time laying the tape around the perimeter of the strip. Until you mentioned it I had actually forgotten the chrome ever existed there haha.
Edit: peel off the masking tape before the dip is fully dry and you won't end up peeling it off the dipped area.
Probably gonna have a go at that in my parents semi-heated garage when I'm home for Christmas. Thanks for the courage to proceed

Looks as though you've dipped/painted the chrome strip on the rear. Been meaning to do that since summer, but it wouldn't just pop right off for me. What's the secret ?

She is really due for an interior cleaning. I just don't have any cleaning stuff with me at school. When I go home in 3 weeks she is getting a full interior and exterior detail.
I'll look forward to seeing the detail pics, mine won't see a nice hand wash til MN thaws in the spring. Enjoy that !

I keep a resealable armor all wipe container behind my passenger seat and hit those dust bunnies any time I see them, until now. Now those wipes are frozen haha

Rolled over 60k miles on my way to pick up a friend from the airport this morning. Unfortunately couldn't get the picture while on the freeway. NorCal drivers forget how to drive when they see a little rain it seems like. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/30/040aaad79c3d8163de742feb7e5f904a.jpg
DAT dust though! Haha just jealous of your low miles

The fix for my ecu was as simple as a booster pack on the battery so I had enough energy to uninstall ap and install/reflash. Was pretty worried for a couple days!phew..

Reading in the what did you do to your 4th gen legacy today thread it sounds like $kyleap007 hicksta'd his Ecu trying to flash it while the car was running.
Magnuson, u know of someone doing this before? Am I gonna end up shipping my ecu to Cobb?

They say "79" on all the end pieces where one might turn with a key to lock them. I don't see any other numbers..

I've got the Mont blanc Subaru bars for my 05 gt wagon and they came without keys. They function just fine but I haven't been able to lock them. Just wondering if anyone knows where to track down keys/ if it's worth it?
