I really liked my Hogzust mod while I had it. Now I'm running the v2.1 SPT and that is a sexy sounding exhaust. You can hear the boxer rumble but with no drone. Not cheap though.

I was a bit concerned when I got my Outback 2 years ago that the seats were going to be a problem for my back. I'm 45 and have a less than stellar back (not enough core work, too much time spent bent under hoods). I was used to the SRT-4 seats in my Neon which are pretty damn comfy for aggressively bolstered seats. But I have to say, even for longs trips (2-4 hours at a time), they haven't given me any problems. Maybe the 2008 seats are better made?
TLDR: Mine are fine for my old back

subscribe, I haven't tryed that yet. I thought there used to be a button for it ? I don't see it here at work.
I know almost 13,000 post....what a newbie...
Just in case you are serious...at the top of each thread page, there is a "thread tools" drop-down button, the subscribe link is there.
Great write-up here. Thank you so much for putting the time in to make this walk-through!

Very good choice on the KWs. I had them on my ACR and they were amazing. Height looks perfect too.

Does this affect performance at all? This mod is to give you a performance exhaust sound without the expense.
So no.
-
You have the upper rear arms in yours?
Yea I am selling the mount.
I actually stuck it in a thread that Kaos22 started as he was selling one.
It may already be sold but if not Ill let you know.....
Yep, I installed the upper arms when I installed the Bilstiens.
No worries about the mount. I was just thinking about completing the set. Gotta catch 'em all doncha know

Anyone put the spec b pieces on an outback xt?
I have the upper arms in mine, and I have all the rest sitting in my garage waiting to go in. I plan to assemble the rear arms with new bearings and the STI backing plates I have before mounting them, but removal and install seems pretty straight forward.
Also not using rear diff mount, as I already have one with my 6 speed swap. That is the one piece I don't have. Are you looking to sell it, or didn't you get it?

im wanting to try this out but having the gap and it being an exhaust leak , how does this affect your car? MPG? or problems??
While it is a leak in your exhaust, it is located at the back of the system. It will not effect O2 sensors, so no change to MPG there. This mod is to give you a performance exhaust sound without the expense. Some folks claim a slight smell of exhaust in the car, but I'm not one of them. Lastly, if you have yearly safety inspections where you live, you will want to reverse this mod before going in since it is after all an exhaust leak.
I've had mine done for a year now and I still love it

I stand corrected. Sorry for the mis-infomation
-
The rear shock mounts are the same for stock or US Bilsteins. *Edit* My bad, the JDM Blistein mount is different.
-
Subaru doesn't sell the support bearing by itself. I don't know whether you can swap it from Legacy driveshaft since I left mine intact.
-
it might be mentioned somewhere in the thread but with the 2.5i back pressure, does this affect anything?
Back pressure? Since you don't want back pressure, if anything, this mod would remove some.
so ive had my hawgzaust system in for about two months and i got tired of it and took the washers out and my exhaust flanges are bent. i guess its finally time to get a real exhaust. How did you manage to bend your flanges?

Thank you. I am doing the full proper swap. So the manual crossmember from a 6 speed B-spec legacy sedan would work on my auto OBXT? Just want to make 100% sure before I buy the parts.
I haven't done that part myself, but from what I can tell, any non- Outback crossmember should work.
-
If you are doing the full and proper swap, the shifter does not need to be changed. The trans crossmember should be swapped to keep everything in alignment.

I figured that's what you meant. Because leaving the spacers in is free (as long as it doesn't damage anything) and saggy butts cost money. That, and truth be told, I really want to see what happens. I know, it sounds like quite the gamble, but I'm not worried.
-
Wouldn't spacers be a much safer choice?
Safer? Maybe. But I want to see if the slight difference in subframe heights really makes a difference. the only thing that changes in the way I did my setup is the driveshaft angle, and if it doesn't present a long term problem it may give us more options when lowering these cars.
Then again, I could just be crazy
-
The parts can come from a Legacy sedan or wagon, any trim. The only thing that you want to get from the GT wagon would be the rear springs if you are going with stock-type struts.
-
In the rear, I did the specB uppers (along with the specB shocks and LGT wagon springs of course) only. Everything else, including the jounce bumpers, is stock OBK. The front is all specB and spacers removed.
I am trying an experiment though...I have removed the subframe spacers in the front only. I know, I know..."your sh*t is going to blow!" I don't think it will have any real effect on the drivetrain, but I'm willing to risk it and see what happens on the long haul. By keeping the spacers in the rear, I don't have the pronounced saggy butt others do when using specB front upper strut mounts.
-
Looking back, my post was a typo. I meant to type UCA. So yeah, more travel with those. I just went with the specB for the aluminum goodness.
-
Ah, I thought they were referring to the stock bits. Ignore the Dante behind the curtain.
-
Scooby couldn't you just replace the UCA's to get more travel? From the pictures it looks like an inch or so.Yea I have thought about that it might work. Anyone tried this?
I have the specB upper arms on mine. Even with the stock OBK bumpers I have yet to bottom out the suspension.
-
I got ya. No worries, it's fine
-
Looks right to me. There isn't a lot of thread hanging out beyond the nut.

Pics? Wheel specs?

That is 245/45/18 with Spec B struts. They clear fine and are the closest size to stock OBK diameter.
My wheels are Enkei Kojin 18 x 8.5. 45 offset
