I'm loving my koni's with pro kit springs! Huge difference compared to stock. 2 of my stock shocks were blown at only 85k miles. I did my front housings satin black. Wish I had done them gloss yellow to match but look fine in black.

So far my konis have been great. Cut excess off the housing so nubs didn't completely go in housing but so far so good. Checked alignment and no changes or sounds or any issues. Drives great!

^how much did that run you? What hp are you making with it?

I currently have mine setup 1 turn from full soft in front and about 1.25 or 1.5 in the rear. Feels good so far. I also have hotchkis bars front and rear. I'm very happy so far and think I'm done with suspension for this car now.

Wouldn't you want the rear stiffer in this car to reduce under steer?

That's very strange. I have 100k+ miles on them on my S2000 and still going strong!

Pressed in my old shocks today and one is completely blown. Pushed it in and didn raise back up at all. Other 3 VERY slowly did. 85k miles. Pretty crappy oem shocks I must say! Never had completely blown shocks with that few miles before.

 

No wonder even with the firmer konis and lowering springs it still feels smoother and more comfortable of a ride than before!

I'll probably stiffen it another half a turn or so and see how it feels.

Car feels great with the konis! No noises or anything. Rides smoother than it did before it seems and softer ride even 1 full turn from full soft all around. Maybe I'll firm it up a little bit more. Thought it would for sure be harsher! Very happy with them so far. Only did a couple of miles so far though.

Got a pass through socket set from sears. Tightened fronts no problem but I need an extension to do the rear nuts unfortunately.

 

Front and rear nuts are 17mm. Strut adjustment but is 10mm I believe. Couldn't find my 10mm but 3/8" worked which is almost the same.

Ok that's fine as long as I can tighten them. The nut is 17mm I believe what do you use to hold the dampening adjustment piece?

Is it possible already bolted in to car do you know? I forgot how the koni yellows were and need to torque down the top nut still.

For the rears. The top nut just spins the dampening adjuster with it. Is that normal? It doesn't seem to get tight.

Bolted them in and I think I'm good to go. The one I cut short doesn't go all the way in but the bumps do go in a little bit and no wiggle or anything.

 

Are the silver collars used for anything? I didn't seem them used in this DIY write up.

I'll bolt them inside the housing and see if they go inside housing or not. Hopefully they will.

Once the inserts are bolted down from the bottom why does it matter if a little more was cut off? I haven't bolted them down from the bottom yet but putting them in until it bottoms out by hand the one I cut too much off from the little bumps are about 6mm above of the oem housing.

Yeah those little bumps on the koni insert don't hit the top where I cut it off. The bottom of insert bottoms out first.

Like he said though, he doesn't have his Konis yet. He is just prepping his donor housings ahead of time.

 

I have never cut that much off accidentally, but it is going to be close. The bumps on the cartridge are 46mm down from the top. I have never measured them up from the bottom, which would be the preferred method of checking to see if the cartridge will bottom out before the bumps engage.

 

I've sold or assembled all the sets I had from my last stocking order or I would check for you.

 

 

 

I checked and the the bottom of shock does bottom out before the bump stops on the shock itself hit the oem housing that was cut off unfortunately.

So I guess I will need another donor front strut to install? Damn!

Do you know how short is too short? Or is any shorter than the 46mm you're supposed to too short?

Anyone know if it will be an issue I accidentally cut the stock shock 5mm shorter than supposed to. Cut 45mm instead of 40mm. Only did it to 1 side. Never installed these before on this car so not sure if this will pose an issue or not.

Go with AEM or Innovate for the wideband gauge. We carry both if interested in a quote.

 

I run AEM widebands in both of my cars. Analog in the legacy and digital in my S2000. Both work great.

I second ID1000's awesome injectors. Drive just as good as the 750's and same price so no reason not to go with the 1000's.

I have them in my S2000 for the last 65-70k miles and drives better than stock with my tune.
