  1. Your welcome! Thanks very much for all your help and for the company at Upstream. Much better then going by myself!

I drove to Ft. Collins yesterday and went out all night so didn't get a chance to get back online until now (just drove from Ft. Collins to Salt Lake City - ice highway from HELL and major blizzard, thank heaven I made it without ending up in a ditch like so many others I saw).

No squeal! It appears to be gone! I'll keep an ear out for it and if it comes back I'll adjust it or try a different spring. Great trick.

    Thanks again!

  2. I will post pictures of the bracket and get better pictures of the install points when possible.

That would be greatly appreciated. I have the same problem and have suspected that the fork just wasn't traveling enough and haven't spent time investigating a solution, but it looks like you have done all the work for me.

More pics would really help me out..

    Thanks again.

  3. So I FINALLY got this done at the dealer. They replaced the fan relay on Monday and said they had to order the ECU. So I unmarried my accessport and brought it in this morning to get the ECU replaced.

So there are two strange things:

    1) After this was done my radio stations were still correct, and thecd cd was still in the middle of the song that was playing when I brought it in. Wouldn't an ECU replacement clear all that?

    2) I got home ready to reload my stage II maps, but my green connecters were GONE! They were hanging out before I brought the car in since I just unmarried my AP. I pulled the rug up, and they were no where to be seen. I took that big metal plate off and still didn't see them. Then I looked behind that big bundled of taped-up cables and I found them, pushed way back and way down. Over here:

So I assume this is where the ECU is, in the big metal box in the picture, right? Why would they jam the test mode connectors where they did?

Did anybody else go through this, or did everyone else still have easy access to their connectors after their ECU was replaced?

    Weird.

  4. My buddy saw what appeared to be Earthworm by the BP on Schaumburg road yesterday. RBP lowered aftermarket grill with a red badge. I don't remember your badge being red but everything else matched.

Hmmm I was getting gas at the Shell station on Roselle just south of Schaumburg Rd. yesterday, and then I drove home from there which would have driven me past the BP by Salem is it? No red badges here, I don't need no stinkin' badges...

  5. I have noticed a couple of times since doing this mod that my map lights will be on when I come into my garage in the morning. Just the map lights, not the dome light. I open the door and shut it, and they stay on. They do dim to 50% but don't fade.

I get in the car, start it, and they turn off. I turn the car off, I get out and shut the door, and they dim and then fade like they're supposed to.

Of course I never notice it when I park the car for the night - either it's light out or I don't pay attention.

Thankfully they wouldn't drain the battery, but has anyone else experienced this?

  6. Great mod, thanks for the walk-through! I guess you soldered the two wires back together in the pic below, but the possibility of dripping hot metal onto my console scared me, so if anyone else has this phobia, I would recommend using crimp-on butt connectors - very easy! Like these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103510&cp=2032058.2032231.2032283&pg=2&parentPage=search&kw=butt&parentPage=family

    6. Now this sounds odd, but just do it. Reverse the wires. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a257/mwiener2/DomeLight010.jpg
