Good luck! You definitely need to RTV the half moons. They are plastic and won't seal otherwise. A pretty good sized bead on the curved section and just a tiny bit at the top corners worked well for mine.

Anybody on these forums drive a Red GT wagon with aftermarket wheels? Spotted it this morning on 485 getting on at University City Blvd and got off on Tryon. I waved from my red sv650. Nice ride, if so.

I made two rookie mistake tonight. 1st one was not verifying the part numbers before beginning the job. I ordered a part ending in A040 instead of A140. The second was leaving on an old spark plug well gasket and I didn't realize it until all the bolts were started back. Combined it doubled the time this job should have taken. Otherwise, it wasn't too bad. I just hope that I used enough permatex and I did it quickly enough since I had to remove and install the cover twice. Should I be worried about that?

Didn't want to make a new thread just to ask this question. I'm about to do this project early next week and wanted to make sure I have everything straight. What is the sealant waiting process? Seal it up, reassemble and just wait for it to set up before cranking? Or do you sort of glue the gasket to the surface and allow that to set up before reassembly? The FSM reads: I take that to mean sealant goes between cyl head and gasket, but the wording leaves plenty to the imagination. Some clarification would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Insulation was broken on the black (ground) wire. Taped it up and put it back. The rest of them looked pretty good. Maybe I don't use my hatch enough??

I have poor radio reception and the other day my back up lights weren't working. (at least that's what my wife told me, but maybe she was wrong) Since then I've checked them while opening and closing the hatch several times and haven't noticed flickering/dimming so idk. I might check it out just to see and maybe wrap wires that are one their way. I was wondering if there is a way bad wiring at this location could cause the center dome to go out. Mine hasn't been working for almost a year.

Yesterday I saw a blue lgt wagon with wheels and tinted on old dowd rd. in charlotte near the airport. I didn't get a good look but enough to know it looked good. Is that anybody's here? Nice wagon!

Anybody in the Charlotte area that has an AP that they would be willing to marry/unmarry to my 05? A meal/beer would be included, of course! I am trying to remove this lock on my ecu so I can put the correct map on it. I've been looking for quite a while.

Just to update, I found a local guy who had an open port, and he had the same results as I was getting with the Vagcom. Romraider worked for him, but no ecuflash. We deduced that I have a locked ECU. Now to find some way to unlock it or hunt down a replacement. Anybody know a really nice person in Charlotte nc area with cobb ap v2? But the good news is, my vag com works...i think ;-)

Thanks for the info...I purchased one off of amazon that others recommended, but maybe its different... who knows. I know op 2.0 is best, but for the price, and what I want to do(flash correct ROM for my car)...vagcom seemed fine. Besides, my time isn't worth much since I'm unemployed.

Hi, I just got my vagcom and am able to see everything in Romraider on both my Windows 7 x64 and my ancient xp laptop. However, I cannot get ecuflash to work with either. I have tried both 1.29 as well as the most up to date one. I have use the openport drivers, tried the other ones (ftsomething, i think) I get the same message each time: denso challenge-response challenge is XX XX XX XX XX response is XX XX XX XX XX If romraider works, and ecuflash recognizes my cable, why can't I connect? I've tried also every combination of green connectors. Passenger kick panel, driver's knee plate. I really don't have the money for a tactrix right now. Any help?? ..please?!
