  1. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this goes! I've enjoyed seeing your previous builds and the results you've been able to achieve but this should be a whole new level.
  2. Yeah the kit is pretty pricey. Then when you add the cost of the AP and a new tune on top it is a bit painful. I dropped something like $1850 total and that was with the Black Friday discounts ($900 of that for the flex fuel kit along with the fuel pressure sensor kit). I haven't even received the kit yet and I'm already having a bit of buyer's remorse thinking I should have just pieced together a flex fuel and fuel sensor setup myself and saved some cash. Oh well, I guess it will all be pretty easy to install and convenient with the included harnesses and mounting brackets, etc. I'm not looking forward to pulling off my intake manifold but I'll be doing tgv deletes so I'll probably also end up putting a new turbo inlet in as well. I'm wondering if I should do ELHs too. KillerB would be nice but not cheap.
  3. I hope it doesn't look like this. Legacy GT -R?? https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/5134067?ad_cid=22 There's a lot to like about the 5th gens but the weirdly flared wheel arches and the odd-shaped oversized headlights make it a bit of a pig in my opinion. You can put lipstick on it, but well...you know. I'll say I've seen some done so well that for a minute I start wondering if I'd get one. Safe to say the one listed above is not one of them Maybe it's just the flaps and the GT R thing but those wheels aren't working for me much either.
  4. I've been thinking of trying out the Blouch 1.5xt-r. I read that it was actually originally designed for the 2.0L but it seems like some people have seen pretty impressive spool time and good power with that turbo on the 2.5L. That 440 looks nice too and the 8500 rpm redline on that JDM motor sounds like a blast.
  5. Agreed that there are a lot of reasons to convert but like I mentioned, I am currently tuned (by Dave) for e85 which is what I run full time on 850cc DW side-feeds with an 18g turbo and I make well over 300 awhp with IDC maxing out at about 85%...and I'm at 4400+ feet above sea level. Thus my curiosity about whether Cobb specified a requirement for top feeds. Sounds like it's more of a tuner preference but obviously there's a lot of sound logic behind it.
  6. I plan to convert to top feed as well but I'm curious about whether or not it's absolutely required. Dave mentioned that it is in over in the Cobb Flex Fuel and You thread: But I can't find any mention of that on Cobb's website. In fact, looking through their installation guide I can see what appears to be yellow side-feeds in a couple of the pics on the car they are installing the ff kit on. Dave, is the top-feed conversion requirement for 05-06 LGTs your own in order to get a flex fuel tune from you? Or am I missing something from Cobb. I get all the reasons to do the conversion along with the higher capacity fuel pump but I'm just curious if it's outright mandatory because right now I run e85 full-time with 850cc side-feeds and I've had no issues. Besides, installing upgraded side-feeds is a pretty easy job compared to the top feed conversion.
  7. Yep, it sounds like you can get just the flex fuel module for $375. I bought a flex fuel sensor for $35 a while back so there's more money you can save. There are definitely cheaper ways to get the ethanol content signal to your ECU. Cobb's solution to add a new fpr and charge a pretty penny for it seems pretty wonky to me as well. With all that said.....yeah, um...I went ahead and ordered the Cobb kit anyway. In the end I decided I just wanted to have Cobb's full kit the way they designed and tested it. They've made the install pretty easy so that should be a breeze but I wanted to make sure I can get support from Cobb if I have issues at any point. Sure am looking forward to being able to just stop at whatever gas station I feel like and fill up rather than having to plan every trip I make, budgeting every drop, and making the trip down to Orem whenever I run out. I'm sure I'll still run on e85 as much as possible (well it seems like e70 is about the best I've ever been able to get down there) but I'm sure I'll drive my LGT a lot more not having to worry about it if I don't want to.
  8. Yeah there are too many of those but get pics of them anyway and post 'em up so we can make fun
  9. I spotted a white LGT wagon westbound on bangerter at about 7:30pm tonight. He was following me and then came up along side me slowly so I'm pretty sure he was checking out my Legacy. I had to slow down to turn at the intersection but noticed his license plate said something like RUMBLGT. Had a quad-tip exhaust. With a license plate like that I figure he has to be an enthusiast so maybe someone will know him...if anybody actually looks at this thread anymore
  10. Yep, there's a thread on it over in the Tuning forum. The last update from the lead Cobb developer is here. Sounds like the development is already all done at this point but it will only be available on AP V3.
  11. Those are great numbers especially on a Mustang dyno. That's on pump 91? Sorry if I missed it somewhere but what turbo are you running? Other mods? I'm hoping that Cobb finally releases their LGT flex fuel kit soon and I may see if Alex will do the tune for that. I've been open source all along but I'd pick up an Accessport to get Cobb's flex fuel capabilities.
  12. I'd definitely try to make it for the end of Sept. meet/cruise. Sadly, my Legacy is currently in a storage unit getting no love. I have too many cars and only 2 spots in my garage. 13. I stumbled across this show on the Velocity channel tonight. https://www.velocity.com/tv-shows/jdm-legends/videos/jdm-legends-sneak-peek They worked on your Lgt sedan build right JDMChizad, I mean EUDMChizad...err, Hops? Well apparently now they have their own tv show!! I've only watched a little bit so far but it's pretty fun to see them cruising around SLC in the cool rare JDM cars they are building. Looks familiar maybe? http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=167282&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1465415856
  14. Washed on Saturday...got rained on today
  15. Not sure what's going on here with this 5th gen... https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/4602974?ad_cid=
  16. Must have been hard to watch it drive away. I hope it went to a good home. Was it someone local?
  17. That Volvo is pretty sweet but your RGP wagon is still better looking . I still don't know if there's anything more beautiful than that wagon on those British Gold GC-05Fs. Did you say you picked up some British Blacks for your sedan too? Nice job Covious for joining the GC-05f club too! So, that Volvo....um....Geartronic 6 Speed Automatic? #savethemanuals!!! #manualtransmissionpreservationsociety!!! Sorry, I had to go there. It's sad to hear you are getting rid of both your Legacys but I understand wanting to switch things up. Problem is there are just not that many good manual options coming here these days. I can't believe that not even the new Supra will have a manual gearbox. Even the "enthusiast" cars that still offer manuals seem to be sanitized with super light clutches, electronics and servos doing all the work, almost zero tactile feel and no resistance as you slide from one gear to the other (can pretty much be done with one finger if you want). I guess this is to appeal to the masses by making driving "easier" (aka boring). I've been looking for a new car to daily for a while and it's been kind of a frustrating search. I never thought I'd be saying this but I've been thinking seriously about the new Honda Accord. You can get the 2.0T Sport in a manual which is nice although I did test drive one and the gear box was pretty much as described above (disappointing since I've heard a lot of good things about Honda gearboxes), but it could be interesting with the Hondata flash which supposedly makes 377 ft/lbs with no mods....of course FWD but there might still be some fun to be had. Meanwhile, I'm driving this 2005 Forester S. I got it for my mom a while back but since she hasn't been using it I figured I'd drive it. It's been a solid car! Only problem is my co-workers now call me a lesbian trapped inside a man's body. Only thing I've installed on my Legacy this year (besides new timing belt/pulleys/water pump) is an ethanol sensor and ethanol content analyzer. No more testing ethanol content manually for me! I'm consistently getting e68 to e70 down in Orem. We'll see if that improves this summer but I'm not getting my hopes up. Supposedly Cobb will be offering flex fuel for the LGT sometime soon which will make it really nice to not have to drive down to Orem if I don't feel like it. Anybody else planning to go flex fuel? I'm probably going to hold off on any new mods until I know for sure when that will be available. Meanwhile, I think I need to refurbish or replace my starter and figure out why my A/F learning has been down around -10% lately.
  18. If Fro gets a cruise together, I'll try to make it as long as the health dept doesn't decide to keep me off the streets permanently Covious, one other quick question- did they have a sniffer or anything like that to actually try to read your emissions or was their shake down purely based on OBDII readings?
  19. So true!! I'll report back on where things go with getting a limp tune for this situation. Seems like it should be doable. This is just dumb since I feel like my time should be going towards putting in fun new parts like my tgv deletes and top feed conversion rather than putting cats and stock junk back on Maybe I can tell the health dept. jokers that I run e85 so my net CO2 footprint is low (less emissions than gas and growing corn consumes CO2 from the atmosphere and produces oxygen). Something tells me they wouldn't be amused
  20. Grease Monkey in Draper. Got sucked in by a groupon.... Yeah, when they fail you for "tampering", it gets flagged in the system and you get locked which supposedly prevents you from just going to some other shop. I'm almost tempted to call their bluff and just put the cats back on and take it somewhere just to see.
  21. Sorry about this but I'm going bring up emissions again. I totally screwed myself thinking I could get away with it again since past years I've been pretty lucky and had always passed. Well this time I got the dreaded tampering on my catalyst and for some reason on EGR . They knew my '05 should have 3 cats- usually it seems like nobody knows that. Now I'm imagining all the hell I will have to go through to get it registered. Apparently I'll have to go deal with the jackasses down at the health dept. Remembering the experience Covious had a while back I'm assuming that even if I put my stock up and downpipe back on, they will check cat readiness so now I have to figure out how to get around that with my tune. I'm not sure if I can get a tune that will look like a factory tune and work with the cats. What really sucks is that I don't think I can just switch back to pump 91 and flash the stock tune since fueling would be so off with my 850cc injectors that I don't know if it would even run (or may run rich as hell and cause issues/damage even if I just try to limp it). Am I going to have to swap back to stock injectors too? I think I need to have a discussion with my tuner but this really sucks. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
  22. If you liked that one, you'll love this one. Took it a while back but never got around to posting it.
  23. I think the miles per clutch ratio is proportional to how much hoonigan fun you are having when you drive you car . Over 103k miles on my stock clutch. Probably over 40k on well above stock power levels. I'd start launching off the line everywhere I go to finish it off but my priority right now is doing my timing belt. Then the KWs will go on. Then I can probably start thinking about the clutch. So are you doing Audi Pearl White on your Audi and your Legacy?
  24. I went back to a 91 tune for a while because yes, driving to Orem for e85 does suck. I just missed the raw aggression of the acceleration I get on e85. My car still gets up and goes on 91, but there's a significant drop off. With your twin scroll setup and a quality 91 tune, you should probably be able to achieve similar spool and power results compared to what you get on e85 since your e85 tune is really conservative anyway, right? So under the wrap, your car is a flawless SWP right? What does Audi Pearl White have that SWP does not? My clutch is still holding up surprisingly well but I have been noticing some signs that it may be time to replace it. I've had a Southbend Stage 2 clutch and single mass flywheel tucked away in my garage for quite some time waiting for my stock clutch to finally give up the ghost.
  25. Wait, like plans to drive it or are you saying you have plans for new parts? I can't think of anything you haven't already upgraded that would even make sense to change....except maybe add some flapz
