  1. Let me start this thread by saying that I tried to read every 5th gen thread about fog lights and I'm either really slow at installing them or other members are stretching the truth when they say "it only takes 20 minutes."

All together, the total install took me 2.5 hours. The directions that came with the fog lights are a good reference, but I'm hoping this post helps somebody else out.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    2. Instead of using a plastic trim tool to remove the blank covers (like the directions say), remove the 5 plastic clips shown below. This will allow your hand to easily fit behind the bumper. Three of the clips can be popped off with a flat head screw driver and the other two with a phillips screw driver.

    3. Remove the blank plastic covers. The first one took 25 minutes and the other took about 5. Refer to your new plastic covers for clip release locations.

    4. Once the blank covers have been removed, you should see the orange connectors. Remove the blue tape holding them in place.

    5. Slide the nut downwards into the following location with the protruding end facing the front of the vehicle.

    6. Connect the fog light. Slide the two outer tabs into the bumper slots, secure the fog light with the nut/bolt, and then connect the orange harness.

    7. The directions say to install the new plastic trim covers...I didn't. I saved this until the very end. I didn't want to find out that something wasn't quite right and have to pop the covers off again. Have a beer at this point.

    8. Gain access to the back of the mirror switch (you'll be replacing it) by popping off a couple trim pieces. Steps 8 & 9 in the directions cover everything.

    9. Now it's time to remove the old switch. This honestly took me 1.5 of the 2.5 hours and I recommend 2-3 beers at this point. The directions mention a flat head screw driver...I used a butter knife. Regardless, you need to push from the front (mirror button) while you try to release the 4 clips from the back of the switch. The directions also look like they want you to pry from the front of the switch...don't do that...the release clips are on the back of the switch.

After a lot of swearing, I was able to free up the switch.

    10. Install the new switch and re-install the trim pieces.

    11. Insert the new relay. The directions (step 12) cover the location.

    12. Reconnect the negative battery cable and test your newly installed lights.

    13. Re-install the fuse box cover, install the new plastic cover pieces (step 6 of the directions), and re-install the 5 plastic clips (per side) that we originally removed to gain access behind the bumper.
