  1. Dealer did mine in July. They tore up the area around the cubby and gouged my center shift console. Took 'em 2 days just for that. Then.. the upholstery shop had the car for a week to repair the dash damage and repainted the shift console. Ghetto...
  2. UPDATE - whining came back even after changing the o-ring on both Subys. Even though the inlet elbow looked fine, it was still allowing air to weep in past the new o-ring. I read on another board that someone used RTV to seal the surface of the inlet and it stopped the leak. So.. on both elbows, I lightly filed the flat mounting surface to verify it was not warped and allow glue to adhere, spread thin coat of RTV black around edges and let dry overnight. Reassembled next morning, everything quiet and like new after the air bled out. Again, thanks to this forum for the idea. I hope the RTV suggestion will help others with same problem.
  3. Just grabbed an '06 Outback Wagon, steering pump was horrible noisy, wheel would jerk when hitting bumps, etc. Swapped the o-ring, bled the air, problem solved! Thanks to everyone who posted here, you all saved me lotsa time and $.
  4. My pump just started whining on the real cold days, would disappear after warming up. Based on what I read here it was the o-ring. Was checking it one cold morning, gave the inlet hose a tug and noise disappeared! Yee hah! Has not come back in a week, will eventually change the o-ring when I get a chance.
