  1. Original owner. Purchased late 2004. 5MT wagon. It was sitting on the lot exactly as I would have speced it if I had ordered it. Scooped it up. Don't remember what I paid. Daily from new to 2013 or so. 3rd child forced 3-row daily, but kept the LGT rather than trade. Had gone stage 2 and decided to take it autocrossing in '15. Eventually bought a Miata for that purpose and retired the LGT wagon from autocrossing. It sat on jackstands with power steering issues for a couple years during the pandemic. Finally got that resolved last year and this year, just recently, finally took care of first timing belt service (at 95,000 miles and only a few years past the recommended time interval). Also went stage three with a simple VF52 upgrade. Car made 337 at the wheels which we will generously call 400 at the crank. Need to remove lowered suspension and return to stock height to take it on it's last hurrah as a rallycross car for a few more years. Probably won't get to the point of caging it for rallysprint as it really is starting to get fairly crusty underneath. But it's now getting driven again and I'm super excited to use it again.
  2. Dark blue 4th gen LGT wagon on 128S this evening (around 18:30-19:00ish). Had a Kaizen Tuning sticker on back, quad-tip exhaust, blacked-out badges, blue-accent mudflaps, black wheels. Dude with glasses and a black baseball cap and dudette passenger. Got off @ Rt2 eastbound. I was in my dad's black '08 Outback 2.5i.

Just saw this wagon parked in the Walgreens parking lot across from Nanabettes in Woburn on Friday. A few other modded Subies parked in a row with it. Meet? Nobody was around though. Just some buddies that roll together while all taking their own car like in Fast & Furious? We may never know. Love the ziptie stitching on the front bumper. ;)

  3. Silver LGT wagon on Washington St in Woburn. You wouldn't have seen me because I was in my wife's Honda. Looked stock.

Also, while I was picking up said Honda from Motive Autoworks having the driver's side window replaced because some jackass smashed it in, got a real treat seeing not one, but two separate 2005 Atlantic Blue Pearl 5MT LGT wagons with taupe interiors. Two of the other 99 in the same spot. One looked mostly stock and the other was definitely not stock, but was still set up as a sleeper. Almost felt like I needed to go home and get mine and come back for a pic. Didn't do it, but it was fun seeing 'em. I know who one of 'em belongs to on here (the sleeper one), but not the other one.

  4. I love my LGT and 300awhp, but autocrossing the Miata was night and day in comparison. It's so forgiving. The LGT is so heavy that sometimes when you try to correct oversteer, you're just going around no matter what you do. There's no saving it. It's the opposite in the Miata. I feel like there is no oversteer situation that I couldn't save if I did the right things. I think the two times I spun the Miata yesterday were because I still thought I could save it and drive through the oversteer by laying down on the throttle. Driver error. ;) But when I get a feel for this Miata, it's really gonna be something. I may not throw down the god-like times in the Miata, but I sure do feel like a driving god behind the wheel of that thing. That was easily the most fun I've had behind the wheel of an autocross car. Yay autocross season!
  5. White 4th gen sedan on 495 south just now, 911 style "turbo" logo on side. If you're on here, why the hell would you put that graphic on?

He's not on here. Spotted him in the wild a few years ago in NH. Gave him a little run to show him he was noticed. Don't think he noticed me until I gave him the beans. Posted in spotted thread. No response.

And yes, the sticker is atrocious. Maybe he's not on here 'cause he came on and people made fun of his sticker.

    :iam:

  6. Someone is going probably post something about not buying ebay and amazon turbos soon.

That would be most of us.

Dont buy a no name brand from ebay.

That would be most of us. Don't buy a no name brand from ebay.

It's one thing to buy a bent steel tube with no moving parts from ebay, but a turbo is an extremely high-precision machine that spins in excess of 20,000 rpms in incredibly tight tolerances and must be as close to perfectly balanced as possible. Turbo is not a good part to cheap out on.

Get your VF40 rebuilt. VF40 -> VF46 is not really much of an upgrade. Some reliability upgrade and a minor power improvement, but most folks that go to the trouble to swap a turbo go at least to a VF52, though I understand you don't really have a lot of the supporting parts.

Start thinking about that a bit. You would be much better off with a rebuilt VF40, a catless uppipe, a nice high-flow catted downpipe and tune than you would be with stock full exhaust with a still catted uppipe and an "upgraded" el cheapo no-name ebay crap turbo that's going to end up restricted by your stock exhaust anyway.

And if you truly think it's your turbo on the way out, you should really (really) stop driving the car. Replacing an unblown turbo is miles and miles (and miles) better than replacing one that has already blown. See the turbo failure wiki sticky right at the top of the turbo section. You do not want a blown turbo if you can avoid it. It has the potential to destroy the entire engine.

Also note, if you go from VF40 -> VF46, you are gonna need a new tune. Honestly, if you are gonna get a VF40 rebuilt with upgraded compressor and turbine wheels, you should get a retune. If you buy a new VF40 or have one rebuilt to oem specs, you probably don't need a new tune (though it still wouldn't be a bad idea).

    Good luck!

  7. 2005-6 ABP LGT Wagon. Doppleganger spotted in the wild! Saturday afternoon in Winchester center. Looked pretty darn stockish with a nice roof rack. So, may not be on here. Gave you the deuces as you rolled through the intersection. Couldn't tell for sure, but I think you may have been giving me a weird look 'cause of the ridiculous white wheels. ;)
  8. GRP 05 wagon hauling what looked to be about 6 bicycles hanging off the back, pulling out of a driveway in Winchester on Friday or Saturday. Forget which. Car looked a little low under the load. ;) If you live there, you live in my neighborhood. There's at least 3 other LGT wagons I know about within about a mile of you/us.
  9. Recording runs will definitely help you. Also fixing that airbag so that I can ride with you! Or take your car for a fun run at a renegade event like I did with Solidsnake. There were also lots of places on the course yesterday to lose a TON of time if you're greedy. I'm happy to post my runs if you think it would help you.

Keep in mind that in SM you're allowed gobs of power and as much hoosier as you can stuff into the car including cutting fenders, and front/rear Aero. Panda is a nationally winning SM car for many years running at this point, and it does you no good to compare your car to it timewise. You're also on pilot super sports if I recall correctly? If you want to be serious with the legacy and autocross then you need to get some RS3s or RE71Rs. I would recommend the RS3 since they're cheaper and will last longer for 98% of the grip of the RE71R.

I've got the RE71Rs on some slick forged wheels sitting in the garage. At this point, I just need to get some additional camber adjustment (and maybe a fender roll) to get them to fit. Looking to fit them before the end of the year, but other issues and little time lately have kept me from dealing with that so far. If you've got any suggestions on how to get a dealership to agree to do my airbag recall, I'm all ears. I have an appointment request in at Cityside in Belmont, but that was months ago that I asked for it. Think I would have more luck with Subaru of Wakefield? Any dealers near you that can be relied on to get things done in a pinch. I would love to have the effing airbag fixed. I don't even care if they screw up my dash or cut some wires at this point. I just want it done!

I don't really expect to beat (or even get close to) Panda ever, regardless of who's driving (and most everybody driving that car is still several years ahead of me on the experience curve), but it's disheartening to get annihilated by the street classes too. ;) Top end of most of the classes was sub 1 minute yesterday. I was at 68. Not my best performance, but truly, I was thrilled just to finally get to run in the LGT.

I know I was definitely losing some time off the big right hander following the hairpin in corner 1 because the car was not happy with my decision to be full throttle while hard over to the right. After we talked about it, I listened to the cars during my second work stint and you could hear everybody aside from the B mods lifting. I also think there was a huge opportunity to lose at least a second if you didn't set up the taxiway exit correctly and come screaming off the big left hander down that little straight prior to the offset and long slalom. I think I might have been entering that corner too hot and turning it into a big sweeper when it didn't need to be. Still not getting a good consistent feeling on the longer slaloms either and that 6 cone bugger probably cost me a lot against the more experienced drivers. Funky course that one was. Good learning experience.

If you've got the time to post videos, I'm always thrilled to see you run on a course I drove. That's always appreciated, but never assumed. Thanks for offering. Absolutely would love to see it.

  10. Probably not. I'm totally up for Renegade events, but I've been waiting on my car being more reliable and solid, which I have had way more trouble than I expected in first half of the year this year. Definitely getting closer though. Was able to put down 5 of 6 runs yesterday before I popped the check engine. I expect to be signing up for a few Renegade events in August, Sept, and Oct though in addition to the NER.

I need you out there to compete with me (though, I'm sure you'll be beating me before too long ... I have come to the conclusion that I am not fast). ;) I wasn't even close to the pace yesterday. I was 10 seconds off the fastest SM time. I'm not even sure where people were gaining so much time. I didn't feel like the course was on top of me, but I just wasn't going as fast as everybody else. Might be time to start looking into some recording of my runs.

  11. 05/06 OBP (black) sedan, tint, debadged, and quad exhaust with CT plates on 3S just past 495. Couldn't tell if lowered or aftermarket wheels. Looking good though. Black paint appeared clean at least. Gave you the deuces out the window as you passed by. Pretty sure I saw your passenger wave, but couldn't tell much else due to the tint.

Sorry I couldn't give you a little playtime out there, I had just popped a check engine light (P0171) about 20 minutes earlier right before my last autocross run of the day, which I aborted. Was just trying to make sure I made it home. Which I did. ;)
