  1. Epic post! I would think one of the advantages to pulling the engine, is less brute strength needed. Being able to wrestle with the trans in a position where you have more leverage, vs bench pressing it up from your back. or try to balance it on a jack. not that i have done it myself on the subie, but thinking of other cars i've changed it on.

I did the drop trans way. It was pretty terrible. All hand tools meant that my forearms where shot for three weeks.

M Sprank mentioned he does it by leaving the engine / transmission in place and is able to get just enough space. Given my tools / skills no way was that going to work for me.

  2. Any wiggle room on the downpipe ? I'm afraid after shipping to 97701 ( Oregon ) would make it about the same price as new

Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk

    Shipping is $60.

This is the limited / coated / catted version of their downpipe which is over 1k new. It's also unavailable (like most things in the pandemic)

  3. Going back to stock and selling the car? :(

These are parts I have had off the car for awhile. After my last smog didn't want to put them back on and went back to a stock set-up. Yeah - goal is to sell my car, but I am balancing it with how much effort I want to put into removing what's on there (there is still a bunch!)

Will those King springs work on an 05 LGT 5EAT wagon with Bilstein RevA struts? I'm running Wangan springs now, thinking of changing it up.

Yep, these springs will work on any Legacy GT strut. I had them on USDM Bilstein's (I have the KSRS-29 on now also on USDM Bilstein's)

Nice parts, those pinks are getting harder to find these days! What is the diameter of your DAMD, any issues interfacing with an '05? Condition? Looks to be in pretty good nick.

Condition is great. I don't see any noticeable areas of wear. I am unsure of fitment on anything beyond 08/09s. It's an SS358D. This wheel integrates with the OEM audio controls and I think the 05-07s fit differently. It took me a little while to get used to the D shape. But, this is probably one of my number one mods for this car. It's unreal the better difference it makes. It's just so much nicer to hold and "fits" the car better.

This is on OEM wheels - Bilstein's on Pinks front. KSRL-29+.5 inch spacer (I like rake) as an idea for their height. Outback's seem to sit lower than Legacy GTs and normally need an additional spacer.

  4. Let me know if you split the springs, only need the rears! GLWS! (Love the wheel!)

Buy the King springs. They pair well with the STI fronts. That's how I mostly ran them and why I bought them.

STI were good. But couldn't handle 4 people 2 dogs and a roof box full of stuff (and a bike).

Because the kings are progressive they handled that range pretty well.

  5. I'm not sure if it's because I only had one wheel up or because I'm lowered, but the sway bar was pulling up on the control arm. When I disconnected it the knuckle dropped another inch or so and I could move things around a lot easier. Was just trying to avoid putting it on ramps to retorque the end link

It was because you had one wheel up. Swaybars are a bitch if you aren't on ramps / wheels aren't loaded equally.

  6. Buyer pays shipping. keep in mind these are large / heavy parts and shipping is expensive. Local pick-up available.

DAMD D shape wheel SOLD - works with 08+ Legacy / OBXT steering wheels with controls. SS358D.

GS TMIC for Legacy GT: SOLD. All parts included. about 15k miles on it

GS Catted / coated limited downpipe: $ SOLD . About 40k miles on it.

Tomei Equal Length headers + Tomei up-pipe: $350. Unsure how to ship these. They don't really fit in normal size boxes. Unsure mileage. Bought used off of these boards.

JDM projectors: SOLD. These were built by UTC_Pyro. These don't fit 08+ headlights (it's too deep). It should, but I cannot verify fit in 05-07.

King springs (KSRL-29) SOLD. Despite the listing these fit my 2008 Outback on Legacy GT Bilsteins just fine. These are 1 inch lowering springs. The are progressive and great if you regularly carry people+ gear.

STI Pinks - Legacy GT wagon springs SOLD . Front two white dots (ST2033021000 ) rear two blue dots - wagon specific (ST2038021020)

  7. Something else to just be aware of - you will get tire rub. I went down to Legacy GT height and one tire rubbed. Nothing else did, but occasionally one of my tires rubbed. I had many alignments and it was always that one tire.

If you load up the back with people+ gear your rear wheels will occasionally rub. I settled on + 1 inch front and +1.5 inches rear from Legacy GT height to still use my outback as an outback (stiffer springs would have worked also).

Rebourne also used his as an Outback - but I think he went to smaller OD tires.

  8. On the yellow bike - it's the stock fender that comes with the manitou R7. I think all Manitou's come with it.

On the blue bike I am using a bolt on fender I got from https://reciprocators.ca/products/the-proguard-bolt-on

I have become so picky over the years that I basically have to build a bike from the frame up (or I will change so much that I don't like). The yellow bike was a bunch of "huh, that's not available and won't be forever."

The yellow bike was a frame up build from nmwbikes.com but it took 2 ish months to get all the parts together because of the pandemic (reasonable and what I expected).

Proud of myself: just rebuilt a beat-up leaky 2006 Marzocchi 66 RC2X fork. This fork was 'given' to me (along with another leaky 66 fork) when I bought the used Specialized SX trail 2 bike.

Changed all the seals, and put some fresh oil in it. First time I ever changed seals on a fork. Not that bad at all. Put the fork on a hard tail bike. We'll see how it goes :spin:

I have done this a bunch with the new Rockshox stuff. I think the newer stuff might be easier than the old stuff - or maybe it's just better documented. Like working on cars - the right tools make all the difference.

  9. I have been riding mostly hardtails lately. My friend is a bike frame builder and has been wielding them up for a couple years now.

  10. Yeah, that's the plan. I think. We have four cars right now. I waffle between selling our old Integra and the outback. Which one brings me joy, versus which one is more practical (makes more sense). Obviously the Integra doesn't make much sense, but when it's running good and looking good, it definitely brings me joy. Now will I get the OB sold before my mood swings back to practical?

AQ called yday though and said the stock turbo was a bit too sketchy to go back on. So the ported VF52 is going back on. I can still smog with that setup at least, but I'll have to sort out the turbo situation before I can list it.

My Outback has been basically sitting for 6 months now (driven occasionally). In the same boat of I don't need it, but also not motivated to sell it. I should probably see if I can find someone else who enjoy it.

Nothing wrong with it - I just don't drive it anymore.

  11. My bikes - I ride typically 2 times a week outside (during the summer / lighter months) and 2-3 times a week inside. The BikeLab bikes are steel framed "custom" bikes as my friend figures out how to build them. I have only ridden 26 and 29 inch wheeled bikes. I have no idea what a 27.5 feels like :D
