    Whoops! Sorry.

Car has a fully built engine, ported heads, BW EFR 7670 turbo. Car made 501whp and 403wtq, but for the run we were around 470whp with a shot of nitrous to get it off the line in 1st up to 5500rpm. We installed a window switch that made sure that the nitrous was only spraying up to 5500rpm. Reason for this is the transmission would not shift if it was allowed to spray any higher. We also had to raise the rpm to around 8200 and limit throttle to 60% just before the shift to ensure that it shifts properly.

Transmission has a Hexmods VB, solid center diff bushings and a new center diff that was cryo treated and shot peened before install. Clutch packs are Exedy clutches. We machined the Steels to allow us to pack more clutches in each clutch pack so for eg a clutch pack that usually has 5 clutches now has 9. This way we hold alot more tq. IPT high stall converter. IPT says it's a 4500 stall but I've never been able to stall it that high. Highest I've seen it go is about 3800.

Everything else with the drive train is stock. Stock axles, driveshaft etc.

As mentioned before the car ran 11.824 but the mph was wrong. Time slip showed 140mph but the track team said that it was higher than it actually was.

Hope this helps. If you guys have any more questions just let me know.

Any longevity updates on your car and it's drivetrain?

  2. Looks great! I have 255's on 18x8.5 et45 that I'm trying to make fit. I think i may need some top hat spacers and quite a bit of a fender roll though. How close are you to stock ride height after you raised it half an inch? Thanks

Here's my meat. 245/40R17 RE71R on 17x9 et45 RPF1's. They needed every mm of inboard room the coilovers provided, and a good fender roll.

Recently lifted about 0.5" for autox and track. Required for kerbs and elevation change at Mid Ohio on 7k springs...0bed75439ce35335fde413f18f6fdcf8.jpg

  3. This is an interesting thread. My 07gt will always shift aggressively the day after it was driven hard and granny shift a day after sitting in stop-n-go traffic for my 2 hr commute. If driven hard multiple days in a row it will continue to act accordingly. I just assumed this was normal, given it will learn the drivers style, and didn't think much of it. Does the hall effect sensor suffer from metallic debris accumulating on it or the associated reluctor, or does the magnet weaken over time? I didn't take the time to read any of the links in this thread yet, but it looks like you found a happy solution for you without tearing into the trans.
  4. nospmoht04 "I have a few that are cut up already for the S402 style and wont work for the recessed so I might make a few more at some point"

I have no idea how far down i am on the list, but would wait for the s402 style. If you already have the mesh sized and cut for it, maybe you could just sell me that and i could wait for the how to by you, or just wing it myself. I'm short on both time and money so it really doesn't make much different either way. Love your attention to detail and finished product. Thanks for your contribution to the community thus far.

  5. Otherwise everything has been very good and working well - haven't melted a piston.

    yet. soon. maybe.

:lol: only funny because it isn't my car. Hope things stay together for you for a long while though. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck. :)

  6. I have been checking this thread every day since it started, trying every day to convince myself that I don't need to spend money on a grill, but here I am again! lol

I would like the flush look of the honeycomb S402 style grill without a lip or chrome or badge. Just a shell filled with honeycomb. When you get that honeycomb in and get a grill completed with it I am sure I will be drooling over the pics.

I have a feeling that I'm going to break down any day now and send you my grill.... ;)

My OE blacked out grill as it stands now:

  7. There's no way 2mph over cost you $278..

Last ticket I got was 2yrs ago doing 50mph in a 35mph zone and that ticket was around $100.

Something crazy here in TX is some of the fines and court fees they charge people. My GF had to pay just under $900 for a speeding ticket and expired registration while only going 12 mph over. You would would think she was caught going llike 50 over for a fine like that!?

I didn't believe it, but one can't call ones GF a liar and think that winning the argument would be worth the trouble in the long run. I now believe how it could be possible, as corrupt as it is.

Sorry for going off topic repeatedly.

Did I mention the soon to be 85mph speed limit here on the toll roads and the limit for taking defensive driving has been increased to 25mph!!! So I can do 109 and take defensive driving! NICE!!! I will soon have a great place to perform 3rd gear pulls for tuning without fear of stupid crazy expensive fines. (so long as I only get busted once a year)

  8. Yeah, if the judge said not to use that kind of language in his courtroom, chances are he was being an asshole.

I entered the court room all nice and polite, but after the judge condesendingly laughed at me and asked me where my lawyer was my mood changed quickly.

That's not the first time recently I was told by a judge that I needed to hire a attourney to accomplish something legally which was a blatant lie. (Recently the courthouse misfiled some paperwork that resulted in multiple felony warrants for my arrest, making me miss work and spend 3 days in jail. When I was released all charges were dropped but my liscense was suspended because of the charges. Court told me to hire a lawyer to get my liscense back.... I got it back myslef without spending a dime on an attourney, courtary to what I was told by the judge)

I don't care to have people lie to me in an effort to take advantage of me. (hahaha. this isn't coming out the way I had intended)

So I did call my regular lawyer and was told that the judge was just an asshat that was full of himself, but that it was still cheaper to just pay the fine than to hire legal representation. The judge obviously knows this which would explain why he laughed like a pompus cnt and asked where my lawyer was.

So, I am a huge asshole when provoked. I know this.

(I later payed my ticket online cause I know I am an asshole sometimes)

  9. There's no way 2mph over cost you $278..

Last ticket I got was 2yrs ago doing 50mph in a 35mph zone and that ticket was around $100.

I'll mail you the bill next time. It actually cost almost the same as one I got for going 25mph over. Our toll roads are privately owned, yet publicly patrolled. First cop I saw cought me doing 95 in a 70. I was speeding on purpose then, unlike the other times.

That's life. Our toll roads are going up to 85mph soon, which is awesome!

  10. So you didn't take it to court? I got a ticket for 8 over and the judge rolled his eyes mumbled something about his time being wasted and dismissed it. I guess it depends on where you live.

Lol. I went to court. Spoke to the judge. He laughed, asked where my lawyer was, and then just said to pay the ticket.

Then he said something to me about using language like that in his court room would get me thrown in jail for contempt of court.

Good thing he didn't hear what I was saying about his mom as I left the court room.

I still say 2mph over is questionable, stupid pigs.

    2mph cost like $278. sucks.

  11. foot note

Most of the reason the drive train failed was due to every mount being solid, steering to rear diff, machined from Al, steel and G10. The tires were the only forgiving portion of the car. The U joints were Spicer heavy duty, lifetime warranty ones mated to oversized custom made drive shafts (from Austin Drive Train) and they would fail every 3K-5K. I ran 255/50/15 BFG R1's fyi.

  12. reply to posts 1035, 1036, 1038 & 1039 cause I fail at multi quotes! lol

I have a 3.90 and a 4.11 and something else that is low numerically but I forgot what it was. I liked running the 3.90 hooked to the T5 from a mustang, good street gears. I couldn't tell you the splines as that was too long ago and I have all that Z stuff in storage for now. All I remember is that the R160 and R180 were interchangable as far as the half shafts (or rear axles) drive shaft flange, &&& (side note) the viscous lsd and ring and pinion from the SVX (I have two of those funky cars) were also swapable.

I only used 1 R160 for a few miles when it started to make noise before swapping to the R180. It was a direct swap for me then. When it went crunch I put in the R200, but it required a different mount from a 280 ZXT or the 300ZXT. The R200 also used shorter half shafts because it was wider by a couple of inches, and about an inch longer overall. The R200 used a different diff to axle conection that my memory is fuzzy about though.

Anyway sending 350 ftlbs to a single diff is allot different than sending that energy to multiple diffs. So the R180 should be an easy, reliable find and usually for cheap. The ring and pinion from the 2+2 280zx and any automatic Z of that era was the 3.90 I believe. I think that I got the 4.11 gears from a diesel maxima (think it was a 810 or something model), also from the early 80's.

Hell, my front calipers were 4 piston ones from a 84-86 land rover that replaced the single piston ones. All the Japanese stuff seems swappable if you look hard enough. :)

It's been over a decade since I played with all this stuff so I may not be 100% on the specs.

  13. Look to the old Z cars for a diff. I ran R180's in my 240 before upgrading to late model R200's . 2100lb car was killing the R180 rear diffs. The R200 found in the later Z31's (I think it was only in the turbo cars) is a stronger housing, about the same as an 8.8 ford, our the auburn in the late model f-bodies. Just an idea. The Z cars that had the lsd R200 diffs had a finned aluminum rear diff housing which made them easy to spot in a junk yard. I remember them to be a clutch type, but my memory is not the best.
  14. LGT 5eat car year? 07

IPT VB mod already performed? No

Are you willing to pay close to but less than IPT prices (perhaps again) for a proper shift kit modification performed by fellow 5eat performance enthusiast ClimberD himself? Sure, I need to visit a friend in Dallas anyway.
