  1. It IS piped into the factory nav. That's my problem. I'm trying to plug it into my aftermarket headunit instead so I can delete the factory nav. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  2. Does anyone know if Svxdc is still around? I haven't had a reply to the email I sent him. I feel like this is right up his alley. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  3. Further evidence of my wacky situation. This is the back of the camera behind the rear door plastic covers. As you can see the actual camera has a 4-pin molex connector, not an RCA. It must be OEM, right? So I need to connect this pinout to my aftermarket headunit with RCA and reverse signal.
  4. It's JDM. Most Japanese cars in New Zealand of this age are JDM imports. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  5. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out how this is done. I have a factory nav unit with the molex camera connector, an aftermarket headunit with an RCA camera input and a reverse signal wire, and I think I have a factory reverse camera. The reason I say I think it's a factory camera is because it appears to be installed in a proper mounting point above the licence plate to the left of the boot handle (it's a wagon). When I pulled the nav unit out I can see the molex camera connector goes very deep into the dash and it isn't a small little pigtail adaptor for an aftermarket RCA camera. It's also cable-tied to another harness which is a very factory thing to do and surely not something an aftermarket installer would bother doing. So with that in mind, I'm trying to figure out how to connect that molex camera connector to my aftermarket headunit. I know I need an adaptor but I can't find anyone who makes one. The only harnesses I can find are for going the other way around - an aftermarket RCA camera into the factory nav molex connector. The next part is the bit I'm confused on - the reverse signal wire for the headunit. Does the headunit need this so it knows to switch to the camera? And is that signal wire part of the molex camera connector? I don't see how else the factory nav would have that signal unless it's part of that molex connector so it must be. So, is it as simple as finding a harness to connect it straight up? I'm not opposed to making one myself if needed, I just need to be sure. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  6. Ah bugger it looks like in that link there is no factory USB port so that's silly of me. Thanks guys. I've got the female end coming out the blanking plate where aux would be so it's tucked away nicely. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  7. Does anyone know what part the centre console USB would be? And what sort of connection is it behind the port? Is it a pigtail male connector or is it made to run all the way back to the stock stereo? I'm looking to add one to hook my aftermarket stereo's USB port to for a seamless looking install. 8. Any ideas? Someone must have done this one way around or another. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  9. My last car did this. Bubbling coolant. I took it to several garages and they did that very same test and told me "nope, no issues at all. Drive on" but it kept overheating and kept bubbling. The overheating obviously made it worse and I eventually sold it as a lemon. If there's pressure building in your coolant it means something is pumping it in. That something is your exhaust. Mine didn't have mixing of oil and coolant either. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  10. I know plenty of people have swapped nav into their dash in place of the dash pocket, but has anyone gone the other way? I'm just curious before I go ahead and buy a dash pocket and rip my dash apart is there a wiring harness for the clock that will just be plug and play back there? I'm not after the milage one, just a plain old clock model. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  11. Hi all. I have a JDM 2007 Legacy with the radar cruise control (SI-cruise). Has anyone found a way to disable the beeps it makes when it locks onto and subsequently loses lock on the vehicle in front? The feature is great but that beeping just puts me right off.* I believe this can be done with the eyesight models but the same instructions didn't work for mine. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  12. It is. Even models that don't have cruise control fitted can have it enabled by just buying the steering wheel controls (and also a replacement brake pedal switch), plugging them in and you're good to go. I would be surprised if the steering wheel stereo control wouldn't be plug and play. If you want cruise control and stereo control together, you need to buy a replacement switch that has both sides connected to the one harness. You can just buy the single side you want and splice in the correct pins but it's a bit gash. I did this when I added cruise. From memory I think it's just the positive and negative pins that need to be spliced, everything else is its own pin. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
  13. The video in the main post of the S13 with apparent "Compressor surge" is not compressor surge. Compressor surge occurs when boost creeps so high and uncontrollably that it can no longer be regulated and released and continues to rise. Not having a BOV doesn't cause any harm and has never been proven to destroy a turbo. Engines don't like it and obviously aren't tuned for it, but it won't hurt. The sound in the video posted is just turbo flutter, the sound of air stalling and hitting the compressor fins at an undesirable, but not damaging, angle. Compressor surge = bad. very bad. and will immediately kill your engine, but you won't see that on stock parts Compressor flutter = annoying (as it causes harsh gear shifts) and silly, but not damaging.
  14. Oh sorry I mean like, external airflow running THROUGH the fins. Seems a lot of intercooler for not much cooling I know they're a b**** to plumb on subis.
  15. Does your front mount get enough airflow in the way it's set up? It looks like there's a lot of bumper blocking it.
  16. this. Pretty much. I never thought i'd like the headlight covers but they look nice on your car. Love the front bumper. Gotta find me a wrecked b4 around palmy.
  17. Really? Wow better keep looking then. Were the parts up in auckland?
  18. Well, i suppose pretty rare. I actually have one and have been trying to figure out a way to paint it haha. But i dont think ive seen many others. What parts could you possibly be getting from little 'ol NZ?
  19. This photo is great. been looking for a silver leggy to help me decide on wheel colour. Black it is
  20. Yea i might keep it. Although i was thinking about getting all the imitation wood painted. Looks a little tacky
  21. My new baby. Only had her a few weeks. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/o2fst4uo/DSC03777.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/o2fst4uo/DSC03778.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/o2fst4uo/DSC03779.jpg
